The large loop near the start of each lap is a great place to draft behind other racers. Trailing opponents are bound to try this as well, so be ready to dodge any karts that might boost past you. This is also an ideal location to drop a Banana.
Even without a Mushroom, you can clear the large gap that appears in the pond. Drive straight across the ramp’s center, then hop into the jump. Note that a mistimed jump can send you crashing into the ice. If you’d rather not risk it, drive straight into the water. This path contains some item boxes, coins, and several bumps from which you can jump boost.
The dash panels in the cavern are much harder to negotiate when opponents are nearby. In this case, consider following the path to the left. It’s a bit slower, but you’ll find it much easier to endure frequent jostling.
The cavern exit is another great place to use suitable items. As trailing opponents funnel in from both sides, you stand an excellent chance of hitting someone with a Green Shell or a well-placed Banana.
