Batman: Arkham Knight Guide › Most Wanted Side Missions

Creature of the Night

First Available: Chapter 3

Main Objective: Investigate the Winged Creature Stalking the Skies

Location: Bleake Island, near ACE Chemicals (Langstrom’s Laboratory)

Most Wanted Villain: Man-Bat

Reward: 6 Upgrade Points, 1 per Objective, 3 for apprehending Most Wanted

Obtain a Blood Sample from the Winged Creature for Analysis

After hacking into the Transport Terminal, grappling to a rooftop on Miagani Island introduces Batman to an irate, winged creature. While climbing onto the roof, the beast swipes at the vigilante before flying off. This begins the Creature of the Night Most Wanted.

An icon appears on the map in the approximate area of a winged creature sighting. Grapple to a high vantage point near this waypoint and scan the area for the flying beast. You can hear a squeal when it is within range. Use Detective Mode if you’re having trouble spotting it amongst the tall buildings. Once found, glide directly at the thing. Batman manages to wrestle it to the ground, taking a blood sample before it breaks free. Alfred runs it through the Batcomputer and finds a match, as well as the location of the guy’s laboratory in Chinatown.

Search Dr. Kirk Langstrom’s Lab

Drive or glide to the laboratory in Chinatown. The entrance is found on the ground level, tucked underneath a building in a narrow alleyway. Enter the structure, ride the elevator down to the basement, and follow the corridor to Kirk and Francine’s lab.

Attributes

-Gifted research scientists

-Pioneering gene therapists

-Deteriorating hearing (Kirk)

Kirk Langstrom and Francine Lee met as PhD students, and would go on to publish a joint-research paper on the treatment of human illnesses via gene splicing across species lines.

Marrying soon after graduation, Kirk and Francine continued to work together, despite struggles to find funding and widespread skepticism of their hypotheses.

In recent years their work has become threatened by Kirk’s encroaching hearing loss, though the pair believe they have identified an opportunity in his diagnosis.

As you investigates the lab, a homemade video of the couple details their research and the results of the experiment. Use the computer in the corner of the room to access all of the doctor’s research. Now Batman must create an antidote by isolating the creature’s signature and removing it from Langstrom’s DNA.

On the computer screen, Kirk’s DNA is shown on the left and the beast is displayed on the right. The yellow sections on the left represent his deafness symptoms. The green on the right shows the foreign genetic material that is causing aggressive changes in the subject. These sections need to be removed to create a clean sample. Press left and right with the Move and Look controls to rotate the resequencer drums and highlight the uncontaminated sections within the windows. A percentage in the middle of the screen shows the DNA sequence integrity. This goes up when clean sections of each sample are highlighted. It drops if the yellow and/or green are selected. Reaching 100% completes the mini-game. With a cure synthesized, Batman must now get the creature to take the injection.

Locate Man-Bat and Administer the Cure

Now you must seek out the creature, who can be found almost anywhere in the city. Glide and grapple through the buildings, listening for the squeal and looking out for the winged villain in the skies. Once found, again glide into the foe to bring him to the ground, where Batman administers the antidote. Unfortunately, not enough was given before he got away. Repeat this process. Track the creature down, knock him out of the air, and administer the rest of the cure.

Return Man-Bat to the GCPD Lockup

Batman tosses Man-Bat into the back of the Batmobile. You can complete this mission after the battle at the beginning of Chapter 8. Drive to GCPD to place Dr. Langstrom in the isolation chamber and earn the rest of your WayneTech Upgrade Points.
