New Game Plus and Knightmare Difficulty

Beat Arkham Knight on any difficulty setting and you unlock the ability to start a New Game Plus playthrough. During New Game Plus, you retain WayneTech upgrades and points you earned before, and the game is locked to a new difficulty setting called Knightmare. Knightmare is the exact opposite of Easy. Instead of enemy sturdiness, damage dealing, reactions, accuracy, and speed begin set as low as possible, these parameters are all set as high as possible, all the time. Knightmare difficulty also eliminates the danger sense that shows up on the HUD when Batman is about to be attacked. These are the signals that indicate when to Counter or Evade incoming enemy strikes. You have to really pay attention to enemy animations and positions to succeed in combat at this difficulty. Knightmare difficulty is the only setting available during New Game Plus, and cannot be selected outside of New Game Plus. Your reward for braving the dark night a second time through on the highest difficulty is the game’s capstone system reward, a Platinum Trophy on PlayStation 4 and the biggest Gamerscore Achievement on Xbox One.
