Uncovering Riddler Challenge Locations

While you can collect most trophies and solve most riddles as soon as you can freely explore a given area, you won’t know where any of the puzzles and riddle solutions are. There are two solutions to that. One is to track down and interrogate Riddler Informants, and the other is, of course, the guide you’re reading. When perched above the streets of Gotham City not activately engaged in a mission, you can scan the looting crowds below with Detective Mode in search of Riddler Informants. Detective Mode displays them with a glowing green hue. Swoop in and subdue all the thugs except for the Informant. Be sure to leave them for last so the interrogate option appears. An interrogation adds the location of some Riddler challenges near that area to the map. The locations you can shakedown from green-glowing informants are general, and may just be in the vicinity of the challenge, or from a good vantage to find it.

When engaging a gang surrounding an informant, it’s okay to briefly smack or counter the informant if it’s your best move, to avoid a hit or keep a Free Flow Combo going. Just make sure you don’t subdue the informant. (A mere counter or stray regular hit won’t subdue a target if he still has friends around.)

Walking through Gotham City Police Department Lockup with Detective Mode on, you may be surprised: there’s a Riddler informant right in the heart of GCPD! This one you can interrogate for locations simply by approaching him, no accomplice-clearing necessary.

Lots of the fun of the Arkham games comes from discovery and surprise, so it’s recommended that you don’t plow too deeply into challenge locations and unlocks here until you’ve explored much of the game on your own. Then, you can use these pages together with the Achievements, Trophies, and Unlocks chapter as a reference to clean up what you’ve missed, filling up your Riddler grids and completing “Riddler’s Revenge.”
