Fable Anniversary eGuide Walkthrough Witchwood to Grey House

Arena Preparation Area

After your orientation, you have a few minutes of downtime before your name is called to enter the Arena. There’s a Blackjack table nearby, if you want to unwind—but you’re better off stocking up on supplies, ensuring that you’re suitably equipped for the challenges ahead.

There are a few things to note about the Arena battle: your cash prize steadily increases with each round—earning you a whopping 28,600 Gold if you don’t return to the Arena Preparation Area between fights. If you’re aiming for the entire amount, purchase plenty of Potions beforehand—although skilled fighters can earn additional healing items by killing foes quickly and keeping the crowd happy during combat. Once your name has been called, speak with the Guard to the north. Your public awaits!

Shopping at the Arena Preparation Area

Prices are a little steep in the Preparation Area shop, but its convenience is worth the few extra Gold. You can purchase the Thunder Hero Doll here (needed to complete the Collect the Hero Dolls quest), alongside the entire Bright Plate Mail outfit required to open the Abandoned Road Demon Door.

The Arena Battle

ROUND 1

This early warm-up round consists of four waves of Wasps. You can hack them up with ease, earning yourself 100 Gold in the process.

ROUND 2

This time, you’re up against a small army of Hobbes. Try and deal with the annoying Spellcasters first and use your area-of-effect Spells to hold back the tide. Your reward for completing this round is 500 Gold.

ROUND 3

From this point on, you have some assistance in the form of your old friend Whisper. That’s just as well; this fight against White and normal Balverines can be quite the challenge. Remember that weapons with Silver Augmentations are particularly effective against Balverines, while the Slow Time Spell is a blessing against their lightning-fast attacks. You get 1,000 Gold for your victory here.

ROUND 4

Next, you’re up against a new enemy—the Undead. Some of the larger Undead variants can pack quite a punch and have a wide area of reach as they whirl around. That said, they’re pretty weak and slow moving, making this fight fairly easy unless you muck up spectacularly. Ranged Heroes can rejoice, too, as the Undeads’ shambling gait makes them easy to pick off from afar. 2,000 Gold is your reward for completing this round.

ROUND 5

It’s Bandit time! You should find the early waves simple enough to deal with if you’re flexing your Melee credentials—just ensure you deal with any Ranged enemies first. The Assassins that appear toward the end of the round are masters of blocking—so Flourishes, Ranged attacks, and a sprinkling of magic work well here. Don’t forget to use crowd-control Spells like Battle Charge, too, when you’re surrounded. Once the fight is over, a prize of 3,000 Gold is yours.

ROUND 6

Next, it’s the turn of the Earth Trolls—two of the buggers, no less. Use Multi Arrow and fully charged shots to make short work of the first Troll then move on to the next, using Slow Time to ease your potential pain. Clear this round to receive a deliciously generous 4,000 Gold.

ROUND 7

Use exactly the same tactics again to deal with the Rock Trolls in this round, singling them out one at a time with a barrage of fully charged Multi Arrows while Slow Time is activated. Alternatively, slam back their boulders with a Melee strike, dealing a massive 450 damage in the process. At the end of this round, 8,000 Gold is yours for the taking.

Round 8: Arachanox

This huge beast might look formidable, but it’s a bit of a pushover if you know what you’re doing. Hang back at first, keeping your distance and firing off a few Multi Arrows or Spells to do some preliminary damage. As soon as it spreads its claws and begins to glow green, cast Slow Time, dash up, and pound it repeatedly in the eye. After a few seconds, Arachanox slams its tail into the ground, giving you a few more moments to pile on the blows. Repeat this tactic and, eventually, Arachanox burrows beneath the earth. Deal with its Scorpion minions then prepare for its re-emergence. A couple more repeats and it’s history.

Bonus Round: Whisper

A twist! Jack of Blades makes his triumphant return to Albion with one last proposal—a fight to the death between our victorious Heroes. That means you’re up against Whisper now, and, mercifully, she only takes a few hits to subdue. However, she’s a master blocker and a nimble fighter—dodge round the back and Flourish to deal damage, using Slow Time to keep her in your sights. Ranged weapons are pretty much useless here, so Melee attacks are the way forward.

When Whisper falls, you have one last decision to make. Black-hearted characters can kill her, receiving a slew of Evil points, plus a bonus 10,000 Gold from Jack of Blades. Good characters, meanwhile, should simply make their way to the Arena exit, leaving her to the baying crowd. Whatever your choice, expect the Champion’s Seal and King Scorpion Sting Trophies as a reward.

Back outside the Arena, you receive a summons to meet your sister at Grey House, just east of Barrow Fields. It’s a mere warp and a jog away, so head on over, as soon as you’ve tired of the adulation from your new-found fans.
