Oakvale isn’t exactly a hive of commerce and there’s only one birthday gift to buy in town: the Chocolates sold by the Trader at Point A. They’ll cost you three gold coins, which you can earn by helping (or terrorising) your neighbours.
There are four people in Oakvale looking for your help, each marked by a green dot on your map. For every Good deed you do, your dad will give you a single gold coin, so be sure to pop back home every so often to claim your reward. Evil deeds pay for themselves in equal amounts.
Guarding The Stock
A farmer at Point B asks you to guard his three barns, keeping a watchful eye on his prize collection of barrels while he takes a much-needed lavatory break. Of course, who’s to say there isn’t something far more valuable than a single gold coin stashed away inside?
Simply stand between the piles of crates and keep watch until the farmer makes his triumphant, bladder-lightened return.
If you want to liven things up a little, enter each barn in turn and destroy the barrels inside. Your errant ways will unearth two Giant Beetles and a shiny gold coin—who says crime doesn’t pay?
The Secret Tryst
Head around to the rear of the house (at Point C) and you’ll disturb the the saucy embrace of a man and his mistress. Listen from a distance, then run over to let them know the game is up.
Refuse the man’s bribe and immediately inform his wife (at Point D) of his adulterous activities. You home wrecker, you.
Accept the bribe. Then, proving that youcan have your cake and eat it, rat the man out to his wife (at Point D) anyway. You’ll actually get Good points for this double-cross so purely Evil players might want to stop at the bribe.
The Bully Shakedown
There’s a scuffle going on over at Point E. An older boy is beating up a younger one to get his hands on Rosie the Teddy Bear—which, as luck would have it, is required elsewhere in Oakvale.
Teach the bully a lesson by roughing him up a little and you’ll receive the bear in gratitude.
If you’re feeling particularly devilish, simply beat the bear out of the younger boy yourself. You scoundrel.
The Lost Teddy Bear
There’s a teary-eyed tot over at Point F who’s desperate to find her missing Teddy Bear. You’ll get it by beating up either of the boys at Point E, but then what?
If you have a heart full of sunbeams, simply return the bear to the girl. Job done.
Alternatively, give the bully the bear by talking to him again. Sure, he’ll probably spend the afternoon plucking its stuffing out but that’s no concern of yours.
Once you’ve earned three gold coins, hand them over to the Trader at Point A, take your Chocola1te, then make your way to the Gold Quest marker on your mini-map. Your sister, who’s apparently easily pleased, will be thrilled by your gift.
Sadly, it’s but a fleeting moment of joy. Leave the field and prepare for the mother of all party crashers. You wake some time later and Oakvale is in turmoil. Fire spreads through the streets, threatening to swallow the village whole. Climb up the hill ahead and begin winding your way toward home.
