Oakvale has changed dramatically since your youth and is now a bustling bayside town, packed with distractions for the inquisitive Hero. Your first destination should be the tavern at Point A. Here, you’ll find Maze who’s keen to start you on another story quest—however, you need to return to the Heroes’ Guild to collect it. Before you do, take some time to explore this unfamiliar Oakvale and purge it of its treasures.
While you’re still on the beach, head west along the shore and grab the Assassin Boots from the chest at the very end. Smash up the barrels for a spot of sustenance and speak to the woman nearby who is pining for her missing, seafaring husband. There’s a second chest containing 250 Gold behind the house overlooking the ocean—you might recognise it as the spot where you caught the cheating husband all those years ago. A third chest, holding a Resurrection Phial, lies just beyond the garden gate at Point B. Go forth and plunder.
Next, head down the winding path to the south-east and to reach Oakvale’s second beach area. Pop inside the shack to grab the Oak Crossbow from the chest then speak to the ghostly pirate outside at Point C—you can probably already see where this is going, right?
Your new nautical friend wants you to recover his buried treasure and return it to his wife. As luck would have it, both are located on the western-most beach, so totter on back and prepare your Spade. Dig between the two supporting pillars on the eastern side of the pier. Now that you have the treasure (a paltry 500 Gold, it turns out), you’ve two possible options.
Good Heroes should give the treasure to the ghost’s widow at Point D. Return to your paranormal pirate chum and he tells you where to find the Obsidian Greataxe and a Silver Key by way of thanks. They’re buried in the Memorial Garden at the end of the path to the north-east—be sure to talk to the chicken-kicking contest organiser on the way so he knows to set things up.
Evil characters, meanwhile, can keep the (disappointing) treasure for themselves and kill the widow to exorcise the pirate’s ghost. Make your way to the Memorial Garden when you’re done.
