When the spectre of Lady Grey’s sister finally departs, smash up the barrels to score some Potions then open the chest to receive a Will Master’s Elixir. A mysterious Scrawled Parchment lies on the floor by the crumbling skeleton—pick it up and prepare to make a difficult choice.
Declining the Mayor’s Offer
If you want to expose Lady Grey’s crimes, refuse to hand over the letter. She flees, leaving you free to become Mayor—just speak to the Guard in Bowerstone North to get proceedings underway. Agreeing to take charge of town grants you access to Bowerstone Manor, where you can find a Silver Key on the Mayor’s bed and the Legendary Katana Hiryu in a 15-Key Silver Key Chest nearby. You won’t, however, be able to open the Grey House Demon Door or access the Silver Key and Silver Key Chest at Headsman’s Hill. On the upside, you won’t have to battle Thunder either, so make your way to Lychfield Graveyard, north of Headsman’s Hill, where The Graveyard Path quest begins.
Accepting the Mayor’s Offer
If you agree to marry Lady Grey and cover up her heinous crime, you won’t need to perform her elaborate list of demands. However, you still need to fight Thunder in battle to earn the Lady’s hand in marriage. Good luck!
Proving Yourself
Once you’re ready to take on the mighty Thunder, make your way to Bowerstone Jail. There, your fierce competitor challenges you to a duel on Headsman’s Hill. Wind along the path until you reach your destination then prepare for battle.
Much like Twinblade before him, Thunder is a formidable fighter, able to block the majority of your Melee attacks. That means you should aim for his back, either using the Assassin Rush Spell to zip behind him, or by rolling around to the rear—the ever-convenient Slow Time Spell is particularly helpful here.
There’s one thing to be wary of, however; intermittently, Thunder unleashes a powerful Lightning attack that does significant damage if you’re caught in its blast. Worse still, it’s impossible to land a Melee strike while it’s active. Fortunately, his momentary pause gives Ranged combatants the perfect opportunity to unleash a powerful Multi Arrow attack.
Once you’ve whittled Thunder’s health down to the halfway mark, you both take a fall, tumbling into the otherwise inaccessible area below. You’ve far less room to manoeuvre here, but your basic battle strategy should remain the same. With only a fraction of his health left, Thunder scarpers into the nearby cave—giving you a moment to fish the Silver Key from the pond nearby.
