Leonidas
Legendary Spartan Hero
The king of Sparta who defied the elders, the oracle, and the gods to lead a small group of soldiers against the Persian army in the battle of the 300 at Thermopylae. He may have lost that battle and his life, but his bravery paved the way for the victories to come and gave birth to a legend. You now carry his spear, a family heirloom, passed down so you may discover the truth of your bloodline.
Sokrates
The Philosopher
Brilliant, courageous, and always an interesting conversationalist, Sokrates’ modern thinking gained him favour with the intellectual elite of Athens. He’s a staunch believer in Athenian ideologies and a formidable foe in arguments, with a legendary capacity for wine. He’s also your friend and mentor, and will be a source of great knowledge in your journey.
Barnabas
The Storyteller
Your loyal travel companion and a man of the sea, Barnabas is a commercial shipper who offers his boat and small crew as a way for you to leave Kephallonia. An ex-soldier, he has contacts all over Ancient Greece, and always has valuable information about mercenary contracts, local leaders, and new quests. He will often recount tales of your adventures and how the gods have influenced them.
Phoibe
The Protégé
A young girl from Athens now orphaned on Kephalonia, Phoibe is living a childhood not unlike your own. Because of this, you have formed a solid friendship, and she looks up to you as a mentor and role model. Phoibe’s feistiness and stubbornness may cause you problems, but her independence will ultimately lead to her own adventure.
Aspasia
The Influencer
A brilliant thinker and speaker, Aspasia enjoys a place at the center of Athens’s vibrant intellectual community. Exceedingly beautiful, she shed the life of a normal Athenian woman to reinvent herself as a hetaera, an Athenian high society courtesan. Always at the side of her partner, Perikles, she hosts events and parties for the great thinkers, artists, and politicians of the time.
Herodotos
The Historian
A Greek writer who is widely known as the first historian, Herodotos could be known as “The Father of History” or “The Father of Lies,” depending on who you ask. He travels with you on your ship, documenting your odyssey as it progresses. His historical accounts may sometimes err a little too far on the side of storytelling, but isn’t that how legends are created?
Hippokrates
The Physician
Widely thought of as the father of modern medicine, Hippokrates is famous for his important and lasting contributions to the field. However, some of the more religious citizens of Greece see his methods as controversial – he thinks he can manipulate a fate that the gods have already decided? Therefore, in the most religious places, those who need his help approach him secretly to receive proper treatment.
Perikles
The Visionary
Faced with the wrath of the Spartan army on his doorstep, Perikles, as the elected leader of Athens, must fight to protect the blossoming Golden Age of Greece. He is stoic, scheming, blue blooded and aristocratic, but his refusal to meet Sparta on the battlefield casts him as uncaring in the eyes of the suffering Athenians. In reality he has built this new Athens for his partner Aspasia, and refuses to engage the Spartans because he cannot see his city burn, especially with her in it.
Alkibiades
Alkibiades is a hedonist, driven only by his personal ambitions and carnal desires. Having grown up in the house of Perikles, he has only known the greatest riches Greece has to offer. But Alkibiades knows the era of Perikles and Kleon will come to an end and it will be time for men of his generation to rise up and rule Athens, Greece, and maybe the world.
Brasidas
Brash, bold, and quick to act, Brasidas is all the things other Spartan generals are not. He is a new kind of Spartan, and he believes that he is fighting for a new kind of Sparta. Brasidas fights for Sparta because, in his mind, they are the only hope Greece has for liberation from the Athenian controllers. He was relatively unknown in his youth, his family life was modest and his possessions were few. A great general in his own right, he was also a teacher of generals in the Spartan army.
Markos
An upbeat merchant living on Kephalonia who is obviously slimy and owes our hero a lot of money from his numerous failed “get rich quick” schemes over the years. However he is kind, and has a soft spot for our hero, taking them in as a child when they had nowhere else to go.
Stentor
A Spartan lieutenant in the army occupying Megaris, he is the adopted son of Nikolaos, and seeks only to make his adopted father proud. He is arrogant and looks down on outsiders, but he can be smart, competent, and trustworthy - if you are a Spartan.
kleon
Coming from a family of peasants, and growing up with neither wealth nor royalty, Kleon is Athens’s first self-made politician. But he wants more than simple wealth —Kleon lusts for power. With Sparta at Athens’s walls, burning Athenian farms and starving the people, Kleon rises to challenge Perikles’s rule of the once great city. Where once there was order, Kleon brings chaos. Where once there was cold logic, Kleon froths the masses into a fury. He will stop at nothing to have Athens under his control, and to use its might to rule the known world.
Nikolaos
A proud Spartan general, he will stop at nothing to maintain his honour and integrity. He lives haunted by a tragic past, but his notoriety as a fearless warrior in the Spartan army has led him to rise up the ranks to general. Many believe that Nikolaos will be the man who leads Sparta to glory against the Athenians.
Myrrine
Determined and assertive, she had the perfect life of a Spartan woman, with a proud, strong family. In a cruel twist of fate her life was torn from her, so she begins anew. Now an outlaw with a mysterious past, we find Myrrine living as a pirate and the leader of an island.
Deimos
A god. A warrior. A hero for Kosmos. This is the image Deimos conveys. Yet, behind the heroism is an aching pain from a lifetime of suffering. Raised and tortured by the Cult, forced to fight or die, the humanity in Deimos had died long ago. What remains is a weapon. A glorious, deadly weapon that even the Cult can not control.
Cult of Kosmos
A secretive, sinister cult that operates from the shadows, whose power and influence reaches to the farthest corners of Ancient Greece. Intent on bringing order to the Greek world so that they may have ultimate control, these masked figures may be politicians, merchants, pirates, generals…or your friends. Be careful whom you share your secrets with, because you never know who may be listening, and the cult will stop at nothing to obtain absolute control.
