Talk to Myrrine
Lakonia: Chasm of Taygetos
Fast-travel to Sparta (1) and ride west to find Myrrine (2) on a mountain road, waiting for you.
Conversation with Myrrine
Myrrine misses you and expresses as much when she sees you. You break the news to her about Deimos killing Brasidas in battle. She asks about Deimos. You can tell her either “Deimos might be dead” or “Deimos might be alive”; those are glass-half-full-or-half-empty answers, so either works. You tell her about Kleon’s arrow in Deimos’s back and that you took care of Kleon. You also tell her you need to go to Mount Taygetos, where it all began. She agrees to go with you.
Escort Myrrine to the Cliff’s Edge
Follow Myrrine as she leads the way to the cliff (3) where all this began. When you reach the cliff’s edge you find Deimos there waiting.
Conversation with Deimos
Deimos first attacks Myrrine while Myrrine begs you to listen. She tells Deimos that the priests told her the baby was dead. She asks Deimos to come to her. Now, one of two things will happen in Deimos’s next line. It’s bad if Deimos says “The cult is my family. The battlefield is my home.” Or Deimos says, “My sword is my family. The battlefield is my home.” This is good. It means Deimos will leave the cult.
You now tell Myrrine that the cult has poisoned Deimos’s mind. Deimos says, “Promised to bring me back to mater did you?” and “Why don’t you tell our mater the truth?” Deimos proclaims to be the chosen one—the one with a destiny who will bring order to the world. Deimos calls you a mercenary with a broken spear. Respond “You don’t need the cult” or “The cult is using you.”
Deimos continues to verbally attack you, and things don’t look like they are on target, but you proclaim that you want what you’ve always wanted—your family. Deimos then tells the lion cub story. Then Myrrine professes her love for Deimos. Deimos challenges you. This is your last chance to win Deimos over. Select “I don’t want to fight you” instead of “You won’t leave this mountain alive.”
Deimos lunges at you with sword in hand and you hold out the Spear of Leonidas as an offering from your grandfather. If Deimos grabs your mother, then you reach an alternative ending. If Deimos instead reaches for the spear, then you’ve finally achieved the happy family ending. They eventually end up in a group hug. Otherwise you are fighting Deimos to the death over your mother’s dead body.
Upon completion of the quest, you receive Deimos’s gear: Demigod’s chestplate, Demigod’s boots, Sword of Damokles, Demigod’s belt, and Demigod’s bracers. Deimos was one of the biggest cultists, so you also earn a cultist clue (The Ghost’s whisper to Deimos). You appear in front of your Sparta home and Dinner in Sparta unlocks.
