You earn one ability point for each level you gain. You can earn extra ability points by exploring Tombs and finding the Ancient Stele hidden within. It is possible to earn up to twenty-two of these extra ability points by completing every Tomb in the game. Ability points are used to purchase abilities in one of the three skill trees. How you spend your ability points defines how effective you are at certain tasks. Some abilities grant you active skills that dramatically increase your combat effectiveness. These abilities must be assigned in order to be used. Refer to the Abilities section of the Reference chapter for more detailed information.
Even if you make a mistake when choosing which abilities you want to spend your ability points on, or you just want to try new abilities, you can always respecialize (or respec) your character. For a small fee of drachmae you can refund all of your ability points. However, this price increases with each successive use, so use it sparingly.
