The Greek isles are filled with many different types of animals, which you can hunt for resources. While some pose no threat, predators that catch you unaware can quickly overwhelm you, especially if you are already engaged with other enemies.
Hunting Animals
Whenever your adventures take you out into the wild, or when you are swimming in open waters, it is worth your time to hunt the local wildlife in your area. All animals provide soft leather, and they also have varying qualities of trade goods, which you can sell to the blacksmith to supplement your income. The tougher the animal, the more soft leather you receive for defeating and looting it. Ikaros can be used to tag local wildlife, making it much easier for you to hunt and not get ambushed.
Prey
Most prey can be taken down fairly easily, and these animals are a good source of soft leather and cash. Most prey will flee if you don’t take them down with your first attack, so be ready to dispatch them quickly. However, some animals are defensive by nature and will attack you if you attack them. You can also find the corpses of prey animals that have been taken out by another predator. When you find these, be sure to loot them for valuable resources.
Predators
Predators attack you as soon as they are aware of your presence and can be ferocious foes. To avoid their attacks, it is best to find a safe spot from which to fire at them with your bow. Also avoid large groups of predators, as facing more than one or two can be detrimental to your continued survival. However, not all predators are equal. While facing a small group of wolves is easily survivable, trying to fight multiple lions or bears is near-suicide.
When raiding a location, instead of human prisoners in cages you sometimes come across caged predators. This is an excellent opportunity to unleash chaos in an enemy camp. Simply free the beast from a safe distance and watch as the enemies scramble, attempting to survive its wrath.
Legendary Animals
When you travel to Phokis, your journeys take you to the Temple of Artemis. There you can begin an Odyssey quest, The Goddesses’ Hunt. Once you have these quests to hunt each of these legendary animals, their locations are made available to you on the map. Many of these are far out of your level range to start. Completing these quests earns you legendary items.
Taming Animals
With the Beast Master ability, which you can get at level 10, you can tame one wild animal. At first, you can only tame wolves. However, once you upgrade this ability one time, you can also tame leopards, lions, and lynx. When you upgrade it again, you can also tame bears. However, keep in mind that you can never tame elite or legendary animals.
