You gain your first mount, Phobos, soon after beginning your journey. Phobos lets you move across the landscape much more quickly than you can on foot. You can also command Phobos to automatically move to the nearest road or path and head toward your current quest location or waypoint marker. This is an excellent opportunity to control Ikaros to tag nearby locations, enemies, and points of interest. As the vast world of ancient Greece is filled with dangerous wildlife and unsavory characters, such as bandits, riding your steed is not only the quickest way to travel, but often the safest.
Fighting from horseback gives you great maneuverability and speed. You attack in the same manner you do when on foot, but with the advantage of being on a charging beast. If you stay on the move, it is also harder for you to be hit. Additionally, when you are on your mount you can stand on the saddle to leap into combat, surprising any targets in your path. However, keep in mind that you cannot use any abilities while on horseback.
