An Eye for an Eye
- Recommended Level: 3
- Prerequisite: Complete Debt Collector
- Unlocks: Fancy Guests
- Story: In order to pay his debts, Markos has hatched another get-rich-quick scheme: steal from the Cyclops himself. Markos swears that if he had Cyclops’s obsidian eye, his problems would be over.
Talk to Markos
Head to Markos (1) at his vineyard home. He’s standing at the edge of his cliff taking in the scenery.
Conversation with Markos
Markos wants you to steal the Cyclops’s fake eye. You can take the job by answering “I’ll get the eye” or ask him for more information during your conversation.
Find the eye at the Cyclops’s house
Ride to Cyclops’s lair (2). Before entering, send Ikaros over the lair to tag all the enemies, the captain, and the treasure. The eye is marked by an objective icon. Be thorough in your tagging; the last thing you want to do is be surprised by a guard that you have not tagged, especially when you are trying to be stealthy.
Cyclops’s Lair
Typically, you want to climb to the highest ground to begin your infiltration. We suggest taking out the guards in the high watchtowers along the southeast entrance (3) first. Take out all the targets that are alone first and then try to separate others with distractions (like a whistle from cover). Hide bodies if you don’t want disruptions in the guards’ patrols, or leave them out if you do want them to enter search patterns. Complete the location objectives before leaving. Loot everything you can in restricted areas. Cyclops is not home, but you can find his eye (4) in a bag in a first-floor bedroom accessible only from an open doorway in the central courty ardarea.
Return the Eye to Markos
Leave the lair and follow the marker back to Markos (4) at his barn near his vineyard. If you were able to retrieve the eye without being detected or by killing everyone in the camp, then his vineyard will be spared from attack. Otherwise, you will return to his vineyard currently under attack. You could be met by the mercenary Talos the Stone Fist if you have not dealt with him yet. Defeat any of Cyclops’s men in the immediate area and then talk to Markos (look for the checkmark icon floating above him).
Conversation with Markos
Markos gives you the eye back. Next, he wants you to attack Cyclops to end this once and for all. To end the quest and unlock the next, answer “I’ll go now.”
Fancy Guests
- Recommended Level: 5
- Prerequisite: Complete An Eye for an Eye
- Unlocks: Penelope’s Shroud
- Story: You’ve had enough of Markos’s scheming, but the fun isn’t quite over. Unknown visitors have docked in Kephallonia, and Markos is sure they’ll stand in the way of his plans.
Find and Kill the Newcomers
Head to the east coast to the abandoned house (1); send Ikaros up to find the target and mark all the targets in the area. Move around the property and eliminate the handful of enemies (the ones with yellow markers over their heads).
An overturned tree behind the house leads directly to the rooftop. Start your attack with some drop assassinations. Grab the contents of the chest on the first floor to complete the location objective.
Abandoned House
When you defeat the final guard, Elpenor (the man they’re working for) grabs the injured man’s sword and finishes him off for you.
Conversation with Elpenor
You carry on a conversation with the snobbish man from Kirrha. It turns out he’s heard of you and asks you to recover Penelope’s woven shroud, a prized possession stolen from him. Dig deeper into the story with the conversation options, but choose “I’ll get the shroud back” to agree to retrieve it in the next quest.
Penelope’s Shroud
- Recommended Level: 6
- Prerequisite: Complete Fancy Guests
- Unlocks: The Big Break
- Story: Enticed by the mysterious Elpenor, you accept his request to retrieve the mythical Penelope’s shroud. Its recovery, said Elpenor, is crucial, and you will find out why.
Find and Acquire Penelope’s Shroud
If you are still at the abandoned house (1) area from the last quest, look northeast for the first objective in this quest. The thieves are still in Kephallonia, in Odysseus’s palace (2), which is in the southern area of the island of Ithaka to the northeast of the main island. Steal a boat from the shore, row over to Ithaka, and send Ikaros over the palace to find the shroud and then to completely mark all the targets in this restricted zone. There are around 12 guards to mark and two treasures.
Again, start the attack by climbing an outer wall and getting to the highest point possible so that everyone is below you and you are out of sight. If you approach the ruins along the north end, get the chest first (3) and then head to the Ainigmata Ostraka (4) on the top floor of the northeast building.
Odysseus’s Palace
Next go for the ancient tablet on the table under the tent (5) if no one is around. It takes a few moments to fully examine a tablet. Your inspection could get canceled if an enemy spots you.
Plan your attack by taking out all the single guards first, and then try to separate groups to continue a stealth attack. Work your way around the palace, repeating this process until you have eliminated everyone. We typically start with the bow to see if we can get one-hit kills on guards. Use charged shots, and if you cannot get one-hit kills, check to see if the gear you have equipped is leaning heavier on the Hunter stats.
After arrow attacks, begin drop assassinations and then wander through high vegetation whistling for your next victim. One of the guards (6) is wearing Penelope’s shroud. This guy is marked with an objective marker. Take him out to complete the objective. Find the last treasure (7) and clear the area for the experience and the location bonus. Loot everything and everyone.
Return to Elpenor
You can find Elpenor (9) at the Temple of Zeus. Talk to him to complete the quest. Curiously, he allows you to keep the shroud. That last quest was just a test to see what you were made of. Next, he wants you to kill a general in Megaris.
Conversation with Elpenor
Select conversation options that pique your curiosity. Take the contract. And when asked if you have a boat to sail to Megaris, it doesn’t matter if you lie or not; either way, you have to find a boat in your next quest. You can end the quest by accepting his next proposal.
The Big Break
- Recommended Level: 7
- Prerequisite: Complete Penelope’s Shroud
- Unlocks: Learning the Ropes
- Story: Impressed with your skills, Elpenor offers you the contract of a lifetime: to kill a military general. The only problem is his new target is in Megaris, which means you need a ship.
Talk to the Shipbuilder
Head to the northeast coast of Kephallonia in the coast of Koliadai and speak to Telemenes, the shipbuilder (1) standing near the ship construction site.
Conversation with Telemenes
You don’t have the money to buy his ship, but Telemenes informs you that Cyclops has a ship. If you finally rid the earth of the Cyclops, then that ship is yours. When you end the conversation with Telemenes the quest will begin.
Deal with the Cyclops to Get a Ship
Cyclops is docked in the center of the Pronnoi Peninsula in Kleptous Bay (2). This location has an objective that can be met while dealing with the Cyclops, but it’s better to clear this location ahead of time and then deal with the Cyclops and his two goons without the original guards getting in your way. If you do not clear this area beforehand the soldiers will eventually come for you when you confront the Cyclops.
Send Ikaros up to target-select everything in the base. You can tag Cyclops’s location and around 14 enemies if you did not clear the areapreviously.
Abron House
Since this town is built into the side of a cliff, a top-down (3) approach is highly recommended. Just keep in mind that when you get as close as 30 meters to the Cyclops (4), a cinematic is triggered and afterward you are placed face to face with Cyclops and two of his henchmen. So, with this in mind, prepare your gear for Warrior fighting, as there will be no stealthy Assassin strategy at that point.
Kill the Cyclops and His Men
If you know your capabilities and the gear you currently have will be no match for the Cyclops and his two guards, then by all means, run.
Your strategy can consist of running and climbing to higher ground to get the height advantage and to control their approach. You can also use the terrain as an advantage by hiding from enemies and circling around for stealthy assassination kills. And if you are quick, you can free Baranabas who will then help you in the fight. Otherwise, treat this like the intro battle scene and employ good blocking and counterstrike techniques while activating Warrior abilities (when charged) to defeat all three enemies (all marked with objective markers now) in hand-to-hand combat—a quickly shot arrow to the head here and there is always helpful. You should be a level 6 by now if you have been completing side quests, so you should be evenly matched for the fight. Make sure to grab the Cyclops’s gear after he falls.
Free Barnabas
Barnabas is still in the same location (4) where Cyclops was dunking him in a water-filled barrel. Return to him and free him.
Escort Barnabas
When he gets up and runs, chase him to the destination in the north (5) just outside the restricted area. Talk to him.
Conversation with Barnabas
Choose any answers you’re in the mood for. In the ending cinematic you two become acquainted; you gain a new friend, a ship (the Adrestia), and a full crew ready to help. You can learn more about Barnabas and his story if you continue to talk with him.
Talk to Barnabas in Sami Harbor
Follow the new marker northwest to Sami Harbor to find Barnabas (6). Talk to him when you are ready to say goodbye to Phoibe, Markos, and your home.
Conversation with Phoibe and Markos
If you have unfinished business on the island, choose “Not yet” (when talking to Barnabas at the end of the conversation). Finish all of Kephallonia’s side quests and location challenges and then return and answer “Let’s go” to sail to Megaris.
While on the ship and before you set sail, Barnabas informs you that the target of your contract, “The Wolf,” is actually Nikolaos of Sparta. You share with Baranabas that Nikolaos is your father. In the cinematic that follows you understand why no strong bonds exist to be broken if you do decide to go through with the contract to kill your father.
