A Mother’s Prayers
- Recommended Level: 27
- Prerequisite: Complete Athens’s Last Hope
- Unlocks: Catching Up
- Story: After searching through all of the Greek world, you finally find your mother’s trail. Although 17 years have passed, the time has come to reunite with her in Naxos.
Meet Myrrine in Naxos
Foundry of Hephaistos
When you gain control of your ship (1) after completing Athens’s Last Hope, you find yourself and your crew sailing off the eastern shores of the small island called Foundry of Hephaistos. It’s a long 5,400 meters west to reach Naxos (2). Sail and have fun at sea. Sink as many ships along the way as you can (except for merchant ships; sinking them raises the bounty on you).
Naxos: Ariadne’s Fate
As you approach the island, you’ll find a convenient ship dock on its northwestern shore (2) in Ariadne’s Fate. Get off the ship, check out the local message board for side jobs, and notice the nearby quest givers.
Send Ikaros up to scope out your mother’s residence (3).
You’ll find guards posted around her place. She’s the leader of the area, so naturally she has protection, but you don’t need to worry—they will not attack. Enter the marked door to finally meet your mother.
Inside you find Phoenix, your mother, ending a meeting with some associates. You stay out of sight until the meeting ends and then reunite with her outside on the balcony.
Conversation with Myrrine
The reunion is sweet. Your mother thought you died long ago, and while in a bearhug, you spring the news on her that her youngest is also alive, having survived the toss off the mountain. She makes the connection that your sibling is with the cult and swears to get Deimos out. Ask, “Who is my father?” and she confesses that Nikolaos is not your real father. She tells you she has not heard from your actual father in a long time. Before you can ask the second question, her captain, Timo, runs up and announces that a nearby skirmish needs her attention.
Follow Myrrine
As you run with your mother, the “new leader discovered” prompt appears onscreen. Follow her through her home and to the horses outside. You can call Phobos or ride one of hers. Along the way, you ask why she is still loyal to Sparta. She responds that Paros made an alliance with the Athenians, so they left her little choice. You stop on a bluff (3) overlooking Paros’s Athenian soldiers on the western beach. Use Ikaros to mark them.
Kill the Soldiers from Paros
Maenad’s Hills
Head down to the beach of Maenad’s Hills and stealthily take out as many soldiers as you can before being spotted. Use the Rush Assassination ability to take out a few of them before they spot your group. Your mother’s soldiers will assist in the attack. It is likely that a mercenary will join the fray, so be on the lookout for that. The remining enemy soldiers have yellow markers overhead. Defeat them all to complete the objective and this quest.
Catching Up
- Recommended Level: 27
- Prerequisite: Complete A Mother’s Prayer
- Unlocks: Going Down, Quarry Quandary, Death and Disorder
- Story: After a quick but decisive battle on the beach, Myrrine takes you on a tour of her city. After each thinking the other dead for so long, there is much catching up to do.
Talk to Myrrine
Naxos: Maenad’s Hills
Myrrine (1) is on the Maenad’s Hills beach, right where you left her after the battle in A Mother’s Prayers. Walk up to her and speak with her.
Conversation with Myrrine
Myrrine tells you about the rivalry between the islands of Naxos and Paros and how Nikolaos would be so proud of you and of how you fought in that last battle. You can reply, “You taught me well,”“He’s not my father,” or “I’ve learned a lot since then.” You can now ask about what happened to her, what the cult wants, and how she ended up there. You break the news to her that the healers in Asklepios lied to her about her baby dying. Consider telling your mother, “We’ll get him [her] back” (this is within the “what happened to you” conversation).
You also learn that the cult is afraid of your bloodline. You could respond, “Our family will be reunited.” When talking about why your mother came to Naxos, consider responding “Naxos is lucky” to compliment her, or “Sparta needs you too” to get to the roots.Select “We should go” to end the conversation.
Follow Myrrine to the City of Naxos
After the conversation, mount the nearby horses and follow her into the city of Naxos. Dismount when she reaches the temple construction site (2). She stops and speaks to the contractor, Evandros. He informs her that the Lygdamis temple will stay in ruins if they don’t secure more donations. Talk to Myrrine.
Conversation with Myrrine
When you talk to your mother, you end up back at her place on the balcony where you reunited earlier. She compliments you on how you turned out and questions why the gods have chosen to reunite you two now. To stay on this storyline, always choose options that promote the family reunion. So consider replying, “To repair our family.” Myrrine says to do that Deimos must be found and rescued from the cult’s grasp. You agree to help her with Naxos first and then hunt down the cult together.
Myrrine agrees and tells you that Paros must be stopped. Their position needs to be weakened. She wants to force the fleet to engage; when they do, Naxos will destroy Paros. But her admiral, Euneas, is missing and needs to be found.
