- Reward: Medium drachmae, rare sword (Slave’s Sword), medium XP
- Story: A slave owner from Karystos is distraught: his priceless vase has been stolen. As it was a family heirloom, he would do anything to get it back—anything, including hiring a misthios.
Confront Nikolaos
At the top of the hill, find Nikolaos (3) on the edge of a tall cliff (just like the last time you were with him). Speak to your father.
Nikolaos recognizes you the moment he sees your face.
Saving Nikolaos allows him to live with his ghosts and learn that Kassandra is alive as well. He informs you that he is not your father but a stepfather and that your mother is also still alive. He tells you to find her to get more answers. In either scenario, you have his helmet to prove you defeated him when you return to Elpenor. You earn a medium amount of XP, Nikolaos’s sword, and the Wolf’s Helm (quest item).
Conversation with Nikolaos
When you tell Nikolaos about the reward for the mercenary who can collect his head, he asks if that’s why you are here. You have the story-changing option of taking out Nikolaos by selecting “I’ve come to take my revenge. [kill],” or you can spare his life by selecting “I’ve come to get answers.” Be aware that either choice will directly impact the ending of the game.
Onward to Phokis

- Unlocks: Consulting a Ghost
- Story: You know your confrontation with Nikolaos made you a marked man. You have to flee Megaris or face the wrath of the entire Spartan army for what you’ve done.
Talk to Barnabas
Barnabas is docked (2) on the east coast of the isle of Salamis. Leave the cliffside (1) after speaking to Nikolaos, find Barnabas, and speak to him about the recent turn of events.
Conversation with Barnabas
Be kind with your responses during the conversation with Barnabas; he is your friend. When the stepfather subject comes up, answer “Thanks for your concern.” You tell him you are going to your mother and he suggests you speak to the Oracle of Delphi. No matter your answer (“The Oracle is a menace” or “I’ll consider seeing the Oracle”), Barnabas lets you decide which quest you’ll follow and tells you to meet him at Apollo’s temple in Delphi, where the Oracle will be.
