Death and Disorder
- Recommended Level: 28
- Prerequisite: Complete Catching Up
- Unlocks: Completing Going Down, Quarry Quandary, and Death and Disorder unlocks The Paros Blockade
- Story: Myrrine learns of the cult’s plans to assassinate both of you, as she suspected. Hearing that your attackers are hiding somewhere on the island, you plan to hunt them down.
Talk to Myrrine at the Party
Temple of Dionysos
You can find your mother at the symposium outside and under the pergola at the Temple of Dionysos (1). She’s talking to Aspasia and Timo. Aspasia warns Myrrine about the cult’s killing skills and advises her to stay out of the public eye. You walk up and ask Aspasia what brought her here—forgetting that you literally did. You probably still blame Aspasia for Phoibe’s death.
Conversation with Myrrine and Aspasia
Your mother tells you to read the room (play politics) and winks at you. This should help you choose your words carefully. Select, “I’ll play along.” Your mother wants you to find proof that Paros is behind the attempt on her life. You can ask Aspasia where you can find the killers. She suggests you try the caves under Mount Zas.
Find and Kill the Assassins
Maenad’s Hills
Follow Aspasia’s lead and look around Zeus Cove for the Cave of Mount Zas for the assassins’ hideout. Follow the marker to the southeastern shores of the island and use Ikaros to pinpoint the cave entrance above the bay. Also use Ikaros to mark location objectives and enemies on the ground while flying above the cave.
Enter the cave, light a torch, and explore. The area is clear all the way to the first fork in the tunnel. If you marked your enemies (using Ikaros) then you can easily find them once in the tunnel system. You reach a wooden ledge that overlooks a large open cave area where the assassins are assembled.
Cave of Mount Zas
It’s easy to pick them off with arrows, and if they come running at you, they have to funnel up the ladder below you to get to you. This makes it easy to pick them off as they reach the top of the ladder. Collect the treasure from the left platform when the room has been cleared.
Climb to the top of the wooden platform in the back of this cavern to find a small opening in the rock wall to squeeze through. You’ll see the silhouettes of two assassins in the next room if you marked them earlier.
Stand on the edge of the ledge overlooking the two assassins in the cavern below. They have their backs to you and are facing a firepit before a large statue. Shoot the smaller assassin in the head with arrows until dead. You may have enough time to do the same to the larger assassin before he gets to you up on your perch.
Find Information about the Assassins
Jump down into the area below where the assassins were standing and find the Stubborn Mule Ainigmata Ostraka in front of the statue, the second treasure behind the statue, and the information you are looking for on the body of one of the assassins you killed. You’ll acquire the coins and letter (quest item). However, a strange code on the letter can’t be deciphered. This is the evidence you needed to link Paros to the attempts on your mother’s life.
Return to Myrrine
Your mother is now at her home (3). Head there and find her on the rooftop balcony. You inform her that the cult’s soldiers were paid for with drachmae from Paros. Myrrine asks Timo to take the coins to the merchants’ guild and to tell them it’s the promised proof. Aspasia recognizes the code as an old dialect that the cult must be using to communicate with each other. She says the money is from a Spartan king. Myrrine’s loyalty to Sparta makes it hard for her to believe the evidence.
Conversation with Myrrine and Aspasia
You can antagonize your mother by saying “Sparta has always been corrupt” or ease her into the idea by selecting “Sparta has changed.” No matter your choice, Myrrine stands behind Sparta. She changes the focus and says “Paros needs to be stopped…then I will go back (to Sparta).”
After the conversation you earn the cultist attack on Naxos (cultist clue), cult assassin armor, an encoded scroll from the cult’s assassins, plus a large amount of XP and some drachmae. Enter the Cultists menu to reveal the identity of Silanos of Paros.
Quarry Quandary
- Recommended Level: 26
- Prerequisite: Complete Catching Up
- Unlocks: Completing Going Down, Quarry Quandary, and Death and Disorder unlocks The Paros Blockade
- Story: Euneas, the admiral of Myrrine’s fleet, didn’t return from a mission to Paros island, causing anxiety among the ranks. Fearing the worst, Myrrine asks you to find him and bring him home.
Find and Free Euneas
Paros
Euneas’s ship was sent on a diplomatic mission to Paros, and he dropped anchor off the beach northeast of Sculptor’s Elysium. Send Ikaros up over the waters between Paros and Naxos to locate Euneas’s ship (1) on Paros’s eastern shore. Take the Adrestia there and dock near the shipwreck on the beach.
The marker leads to an injured Spartan soldier inside the shipwreck. Talk to him.
Conversation with Injured Spartan
The dying Spartan said they took prisoners; he was too far gone to carry back to Paros. They came to talk peace but were ambushed. Euneas was taken prisoner. You can ask him where Euneas is or why they didn’t just kill him, or say “I’ll go now” to go look for Euneas.
After the conversation, the injured soldier dies. Loot him and the bodies of the fallen soldiers all around. Check your map to see the next marker over the quarry to the southwest (2). Send Ikaros up to pinpoint Euneas’s location and to tag all the enemies and location objectives in the quarry.
Cave of Mount Zas
A good tactic is to tackle this fort from the top down, so scale the south side (3) of the marble mountain and then climb down to the top ledge of the quarry. This is where you will find Euneas (4) in a cage. Don’t free him until you have cleared the fort of hostiles. Start with the guards around his cage. You can take out a captain, burn one stack of war supplies, loot a treasure, and free a captive (5) (not Euneas yet) before you leave this ledge. Set a trap at the brazier (6) at the end of the ledge before moving on.
From here, methodically and stealthily remove Athenian soldiers from each marble quarry tier, working your way down to the ground level. One of the treasures in the objectives is actually the nation chest (7). Pillage it to weaken the enemy.
You can find the last two captives (8) in side-by-side cages on the ground level in the heart of the quarry. Free them. Eliminate everyone, loot the farthest treasure (9), and then return to Euneas (4) to free him.
Escort Euneas Out of the Quarry
Unlock Euneas’s cage and follow him out of the quarry, out of the restricted zone. Once clear, he’ll thank you and tell you strange things are afoot in Paros.
Conversation with Euneas
Once he’s rescued and out of the restricted zone, you can talk to Euneas. Ask him “Tell me what you’ve seen” and he’ll tell you about a person, not from Paros, who wore a mask. This ends the conversation and the quest.
The Paros Blockade
- Recommended Level: 26
- Prerequisite: Completing Going Down, Quarry Quandary, and Death and Disorder unlocks The Paros Blockade
- Unlocks: United Front
- Story: Paros blockades the Naxos harbor in preparation for an assault. Myrrine fears the Naxos fleet can’t take Paros alone, but you know your own crew is up to the task.
Talk to Myrrine
Naxos: Ariadne’s Fate
Head to Myrrine’s residence and find her on her top floor, on the exterior balcony under the pergola (1). Talk to her.
Conversation with Myrrine
You find your mother again in Aspasia’s company. When you try to talk to her, a large Spartan soldier butts in and says there’s a Paros blockade in the harbor. Myrrine says she refuses to pay tribute to Athens so Paros is taking advantage of the situation. When she seems surprised by your offer to clear the blockade alone with your ship, you can respond “It will be easy” or “We have no choice.”
Destroy Paros’s Fleet
Check your map and find the three ships in the harbor marked with objective markers (2). Locate the Adrestia and hop aboard—or if it’s some distance away, fast-travel directly to it.
Sail out to the three Athenian ships forming the blockade and annihilate them. You’ve had enough sea adventures recently that these ships (which should be a couple levels below your own) should present only a small challenge.
What could make the challenge a little more difficult is if Neilos the Bone Hitter (mercenary ship) shows up at the same time. If that’s the case, maneuver so that the Athenian ships are always between you and the mercenary until you have destroyed the blockade ships. Then you can deal with the mercenary. Ramming through an injured ship should always be your goal, to recover as much health and adrenaline as possible and then to redirect that power onto the next enemy ship. If the mercenary is not involved in this sea battle, then it’s all that much easier to complete the objective.
Return to Myrrine
Dock the Adrestia near your mother’s place in Naxos and you find Myrrine waiting to congratulate you on the dock (3). She is standing with Timo. You tell her they need to move out before your foes send reinforcements. Timo says the ships are ready to go on Myrrine’s command. Your mother wants a word with you first…
Conversation with Myrrine
While on the dock with Myrrine, she requests to speak with you before everyone sails away from Naxos. You can ask her “What’s wrong” and she’ll tell you she wants to speak privately. Respond “Of course” and you walk away from Timo. Myrrine is concerned about her trust in Sparta, with the news of the king that was received. It could be one of two kings or both. You can respond “I stand with you” or “We should focus on Paros.”
You now have the choice to stay on Naxos and finish up side quests or go ahead and sail with Myrrine to Lakonia. You can ask her where you are going, and she’ll tell you that she plans to destroy the fleet of Paros once and for all. Tell her “I’m ready” to move forward with the story or “I’m not ready” to clean up some side work in the area.
United Front
- Recommended Level: 28
- Prerequisite: Complete The Paros Blockade
- Unlocks: Home Sweet Home, A Family’s Legacy (the quest to find your real father)
- Story: With the blockade removed, the time has come to finish things with Paros once and for all. Myrrine waits for you at the Fort of the Aloades while you sail your fleet against Paros.
Destroy Paros’s Fleet
Paros
Board the Adrestia(1) and prepare for another sea battle. This is similar to the blockade battle, but with one more enemy ship to destroy (four total). The cultist Silanos of Paros commands one of these enemy Athenian ships (2). They are sailing off the western shores of Paros.
Try to sneak up on the enemy fleet and single out any ship that is farther away from the rest—make that one your first target. Begin the battle by sailing up to that ship at top speed and then ramming it in the center of the starboard or port side. Use fire arrows at a distance and then javelins when close up to deal the most damage.
If you have spent time leveling up on side quests then these ships could be a level 28 while you sit comfortably at level 30, giving you a slight advantage in the battle. Don’t be afraid to run. Get some distance between you and the enemy ships if they begin to flank you. When they start chasing you, they are forced to line up. Then you can whip it around and attack them on your own terms. Sink all four ships and Silanos will be swimming with the fishes.
Return Myrrine to Naxos
Sail back to the dock (1) in Naxos to drop Myrrine off. Exit the Adrestia and talk with your mother on the pier.
Conversation with Myrrine
Your mother feels the two of you have done great things together already and that Naxos should be safe. The focus is now on taking out the cult. Myrrine suggests starting in Sparta to clean up their home and send a message. She’s going to square things up in Naxos before leaving and wants you to find your father. You can ask her “Tell me about him,”“I’m not sure I want to,” or “I’ve had enough of fathers.” The compassionate response would be the first one. She tells you that you should find out for yourself and that he’s a difficult man to describe. She points you in the direction of the island of Thera and tells you that she’ll meet you in Lakonia.
