Assassin's Creed Odyssey eGuide Odyssey Main Quests Chapter 5: Keos, Korinthia, Argolis

A Prescription for Discovery

First Do No Harm

  • Recommended Level: 22
  • Prerequisite: Complete Perikles’s Symposium
  • Unlocks: The Doctor Will See You Now and The Priests of Asklepios
  • Story: Rumors that a physician called Hippokrates may have information regarding the whereabouts of Myrrine lead you to the city of Argos, where his clinic is located.

Talk to Hippokrates

Argolis

Synchronize with the Temple of Poseidon in Argos and then dive into the bright leaves below. Run 100 meters northeast to find people who know Hippokrates (1).

Conversation with Chrysis and Sostratos

You find Sostratos and Chrysis arguing over Hippokrates’s clinical methods. Select “No need to be angry” if you prefer to diffuse the situation. Ask Sostratos where Hippokrates is and what this place is, and lastly “I need to find Hippokrates.” You can deliver some equipment to Hippokrates by selecting “I think I can help you.” Choose “I’ll do it for free” unless you want to be bothered by those “greedy mercenary” comments you’ll get for a while.

Sostratos hands you the medical supplies (quest item) and says you can find Hippokrates near the Cave of Pan (2). Follow the road east and up the hills to the medical site at the mouth of the Cave of Pan.

Conversation with Hippokrates

He’s busy. He’s a doctor. Tell him “I won’t take long.” You give him the item Sostratos gave you to deliver. Come out and just say what you’re there for with “I’m searching for a woman.” He’ll help you if you help him get his stolen notes of diseases of the mind. Ask him all the questions available, including the one about your mother. He tells you that he would have sent (her) the patient to the sanctuary. Answer “I’ll go.” The notes are at Fort Tiryns, and he would rather there be no more bloodshed.

The Doctor Will See You Now

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Complete First Do No Harm
  • Unlocks: Ashes to Ashes
  • Story: You find Hippokrates busy with a crowd of the wounded and sick. In order to save his dying patient, the good doctor needs medical notes from a nearby fort’s chief physician.

Find and Talk to Dymas to Get Hippokrates’s Notes

Argolis

Follow the marker to the ancient ruins of Perseus to find Fort Tiryns (1), where the physician you’re looking for practices at the infirmary.

Fort Tiryns

Send Ikaros above and all around the fort to tag all the enemies and items and to locate Dymas (7) at the infirmary in the middle of the fortification. If you are looking for an alternative way into the fort, try exploring the well (2) on the east side of it. Swim through to come up in the southeast corner hole (3).

Eliminate the guards on the south side (4) of the fort first and then work your way north and set the trap on the brazier (5). Continue eliminating soldiers and then find all the treasures, burn the war supplies, and pillage the nation chest (6).

Follow the marker to a door (7). Interact with it to enter and speak with Dymas. He’s surprised to see you there. You tell him that Hippokrates sent you and that his commander stole his notes.

Conversation with Dymas

Dymas says that Hippokrates’s notes were burned in the last skirmish but he memorized the contents. You ask him to come with you to help save a patient. But he is tending to his own patient, who is also close to death. You have a choice: You can select “I’ll wait,” but this choice causes Hippokrates’s patient to die. You can choose “I could pay you,” or “You’re coming with me right now.” Choose the last option and you’ll knock the doctor out and have to carry him out of the fort, put him on Phobos, and carry him to Hippokrates. If you have not cleared the fort, choose “I’ll wait” —he’ll save his patient and meet you back at Hippokrates (you won’t have to carry him).

Return to Hippokrates

Complete the fort location objectives and then head back up to the Cave of Pan to speak to Hippokrates (8). His patient lives if you carried Dymas here, or his patient dies if you waited for Dymas to save his patient at the fort infirmary. There’s no way to save both lives. Neither choice is the wrong one.

Dymas vows to write down what he remembers from Hippokrates’s notes. Hippokrates takes you aside and tells you what he remembers about your mother. He turned her away long ago and sent her to the Sanctuary of Asklepios.

He tells you to relay the message to the elder priest that a treatment for the sacred disease will soon be available.

You earn the healer’s bracers (armor) upon completion of this quest. The Priests of Asklepios quest unlocked when you asked Hippokrates about your mother. Head to the Valley of Dreams to begin this next quest.

The Priests of Asklepios

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Complete First Do No Harm
  • Unlocks: Three support quests: Enough Is Enough, Written in Stone, and A Heart for a Head. Complete these to unlock Speak No Evil.
  • Story: To help find your mother, Hippokrates directed you toward the Sanctuary of Asklepios, where the priests would know more about the Spartan woman who passed through so long ago.

Seek out the Priests in the Sanctuary of Asklepios

Argolis: Valley of Dreams

From Hippokrates’s location (1) near the Cave of Pan, travel south toward Epidauros Sanctuary (2) (synchronize with this site). Check the map and you’ll see that three different priests have been tagged with objective markers. Use Ikaros to pinpoint their locations. Each priest is a support quest giver. These support quests are necessary to continue the main quest. The nearest one is at the bathhouse (2) (Enough is Enough). The chiseling priest (3) unlocks Written in Stone, and the healing priest (4) unlocks Heart for a Head.

Enough Is Enough

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Begin The Priests of Asklepios
  • Unlocks: This is one of three support quests needed to complete The Priests of Asklepios.
  • Story: Pylenor the Priest offers you information about your mother in exchange for a favor. It turns out it’s extremely difficult to purify the sick when one’s bathhouse is riddled with snakes.

Talk to Pylenor

Argolis: Valley of Dreams

Find Pylenor (1) standing between Epidauros Sanctuary (a sync location) and the bathhouse. Talk to him.

Conversation with Pylenor

He’s got a rude mouth for a priest. You can tell him “Watch your tongue” if you wish. He says he’ll trade information about your mother if you get rid of the snakes in the bathhouse for him. If you ask him “How should I get rid of them?” he’ll explain that he’d rather you not kill the sacred snakes used for healing the mentally ill. Let’s do it his way. Tell him “I’ll deal with the snakes.”

Deal with the Snakes

An underground pipe connects to a water source behind the bathhouse. If you enter the bathhouse before you leave, you can find snakes in the back room and a dead body on the floor. You can just shoot the snakes, but for the adventure, head to the marker outside by the pond (2).

The pipe is pretty hard to find. The marker (2) leads you a bit too far north of the pipe (3), which is near some large rocks in the water near the shore. The pipe is brown and sticks up out of the water and is also hidden by bushes. Interact with it to flush the snakes out of the room.

Return to Pylenor

Now head back to Pylenor (1) and talk with him again…for what it’s worth. You discover he knows nothing except the name of a man who does know something. The name is Mydon, but he talks to no one.

Written in Stone

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Begin The Priests of Asklepios
  • Unlocks: This is one of three support quests needed to complete The Priests of Asklepios.
  • Story: Chrysis has threatened the life of any priest who talks to you about your mother. To avoid Chrysis’s wrath, Timoxenos introduces you to those who spoke, but who had no life to threaten.

Talk to Timoxenos

Argolis: Valley of Dreams

Find Timoxenos (1) in a backyard between two buildings in the Sanctuary of Asklepios. He’s carving an epitaph. Talk to him.

Conversation with Timoxenos

You ask about your mother and he claims he’s too feeble to remember. He tells you that all who pass through here get their information carved in stone. You decide you don’t need him, but just need to find her information stone. You can tell him “I won’t hurt you” or the more violent selection to proceed. He’s visibly shaken by Chrysis’s threat to the priests that assist you. You suggest that he say nothing but lead you to the stone that has your mother’s information.

Follow and Talk with the Old Priest

Follow the priest through the building and outside to the first set of stones (2). He tells you a ridiculous story about a medical decapitation. The lady obviously did not survive. Follow him to the second set of stones (3), where he tells you another crazy story about a wounded man’s wounds licked into health by dogs. Definitely not your mother. Follow the priest to the final set of stones (4). Talk to him. You snap at him a little too soon, as this stone is the one that talks about your mother. It’s scratched out, but he remembers the story.

Timoxenos tells you the story of your mother receiving care by the priests but says the child could not be saved. Curious. Before any more information can be learned, another priest approaches. Timoxenos tells you to meet him at the olive tree (5) later. You strike up a conversation with the curious priest, Pleistos.

Conversation with Pleistos

Timoxenos tells the curious priest Pleistos that he and you just bumped into each other on his way to the archives. You must continue the lie to keep Timoxenos safe. Pleistos asks you what the two of you were chatting about. You have the choice to say “We were talking about my mother,” which would be a mistake. Or say “We were talking about sword wounds.” If you go down that conversation route, make sure to answer that “Dogs” are the treatment for sword wounds (as you learned from the story at the second set of stones). If your answer is wrong, Timoxenos will be dead when you get to the olive tree later. The best way to defuse the situation is to say, “I was looking for the bathhouse.”

Meet the Old Priest at the Olive Tree of Herakles

Travel around 85 meters north (5) to the olive tree of Herakles. Use Ikaros to spot the priest under the tree—alive if you played it cool while talking to Pleistos. Talk to him and he’ll tell you that your mother left the child’s blanket behind. He gives you this Spartan baby blanket (quest item). (If he is dead at the olive tree when you arrive, you need to take it off his dead body.)

Before the priest can tell you what happened to the child, Pleistos arrives with some backup. He was onto you no matter what choices you made. A fight breaks out, but the quest ends before you take them out. There are three men to battle, and two carry shields. Remove their shields and get in enough hits to release some special ability attacks on them to finish them. Make sure to take the bow of Dumontos from Pleistos.

A Heart for a Head

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Begin The Priests of Asklepios
  • Unlocks: This is one of three support quests needed to complete The Priests of Asklepios.
  • Story: You want information on your mother. The priest wants a proper sacrifice to appease the gods and heal the dying. Once again, you find yourself responsible for the lives of the sick.

Talk to the Priest

Argolis: Valley of Dreams

Find the priest (1) tending to the sick under the tent on the west side of town. Talk to him.

Conversation with the Priest

The priest stands over a sick little girl who has the same sickness that’s plaguing this part of the world. Tell him “I want to help” and he’ll tell you that all the sacrifices they’ve made to Asklepios have fallen on deaf ears, and he needs you to find the white bull—something the gods won’t be able to ignore. You can ask him where the bull is and why he needs it alive, and you can also ask for some info on Chrysis. Select “I’m going now” to begin the quest.

Find and Bring Back the Sacred Bull

Mount Koryphum

Check your map now. Travel west of town and into Mount Koryphum, following the objective marker to the Asine Ruins (2). Send Ikaros over the ruins to tag all the enemies, the location objectives, and the white bull.

Asine Ruins

Infiltrate the ruins from the east side (near the tall columns), stealthily eliminating the few bandits in the area (3). Free the prisoner in the cage (4) on the ledge overlooking the lower ruins and the bandit camp.

Work your way off the ledge, heading southwest into the lower ruins while methodically removing all the bandits from this realm. Use the tall grass and the structures for cover. Free the second captive (5) from his cage inside the dilapidated structure. His running free can cause bandits to chase him, allowing you to single out and eliminate those that didn’t go running after. You are credited for freeing the captives no matter if they survive or not once free.

Collect the Bull’s Heart

You discovered the bull is dead. Too late to bring it back alive. Loot the bull’s body (6) to obtain the heart.

Bring the Bull Heart to the Priest

Free the last captive from his cage (7) and then find the ancient tablet (8) on the far western edge of the ruins. You can find it in the rubble within the remaining walls of an old structure. Return and talk to the priest (1).

Conversation with the Priest

You break the bad news to the priest that the white bull was dead when you found it. He explains that the heart alone will not be enough to please the gods, because the beast died unwillingly. This will allow them to pray for one life only. With that said, two more people enter the conversation wanting their relatives to be saved. You have to choose to save the farmer, the wealthy lady, or the original sick girl lying before you. Your choice does not prevent you from completing the quest.

After your decision is made, the priest directs you to the guesthouse where you can find Mydon, the elder priest. This one has cut out his own tongue for reasons you’re about to discover. He is said to have information on your mother. You earn a medium amount of XP, the ritual spear, and the Argos priest mace upon completion of this quest.

Speak No Evil

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Complete The Priests of Asklepios
  • Unlocks: Ashes to Ashes
  • Story: Your visit to the sanctuary is like walking in your mother’s footsteps. The priests were helpful, but the man you need to speak to the most is the man who cannot speak at all.

Interrogate Mydon the Elder Priest at the Guesthouse

Argolis: Valley of Dreams

From the last priest you helped, run to the guesthouse (1) to speak with the priest. When you get near you’ll see this won’t be as easy as you thought. The guesthouse is heavily guarded…and has location objectives.

Guesthouse

Athenian guards stand watch at nearly all the entrances of the building. You’ll likely arrive on its eastern side (2), where you can get a good look at the guards in the doorways. There’s enough cover to walk up beside the door and assassinate all the guards that stand as close to the opening as this one (3).

With him gone you can either continue to sneak around inside and silently eliminate all the guards from the ground floor or head to the rooftop and drop in on them through the large skylight opening. Steal the treasures while there. Then interact with the closed doors in the courtyard to find Mydon (4) and his servant inside, having some alone time in the corner.

Conversation with Mydon

The conversation starts off with the servant repeating Mydon’s lie—that he can’t speak because Chrysis cut out his tongue. Both you and Mydon know that’s a lie. The servant says Mydon can answer your questions about why he has no tongue with nods of yes or no. He confirms that the lady who lost her baby was named Myrrine. He confirms that the baby was Myrrine’s. He shakes his head no when asked if he saved the child. You know this is a lie. You know Deimos is alive. He denies knowing where Myrrine was going. You can ask about his relationship to the servant. Select “I know why you cut out your tongue” to expose his lies.

In a cinematic you see a flashback with your mother crying outside as Mydon lies to her that he did all he could do to save the baby. Afterward, he all but shoos her away so she’ll leave and not discover thetruth.

You can tell the storytelling servant to “Shut up” when she continues to back up Mydon’s story, not knowing the truth herself. Or you can select a nicer approach (but the first choice is more fun) by choosing “Tell me what happened.” Which is: Chrysis took the baby and made Mydon cut out his own tongue to hide the truth.

Before you storm out of the guesthouse, the servant offers helpful information. Chrysis took the baby to an altar near the statue of Apollo Maleatas. People take their sick babies there to be healed. After the conversation the quest is over, and you earn the Argolis walking staff and a fair amount of XP. You now must find Chrysis. She’s the one behind it all.

A Herald of Murder

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Complete The Priests of Asklepios before completing The Doctor Will See You Now.
  • Unlocks: Ashes to Ashes
  • Story: Trying to recall what happened 17 years prior, Hippokrates sends you to find a farmer who might have come across Myrrine during her visit to Argolis.

Find and Talk to the Farmer

Argolis: Kingdom of Hope

Head to Dolops’s home (1) in Kingdom of Hope and send Ikaros up to pinpoint the farmer’s house. Interact with the slightly ajar front door.

Conversation with Dolops

Dolops tells you to go away. He begins to trust you when you tell him Hippokrates sent you. He wants you to tell the doctor that someone tried to kill him. He said he’s a farmer now and took care of orphans long ago. You tell him that you will trade information for an investigation into who tried to kill him. You can ask “What happened” and he’ll tell you a man dressed in black attacked him. He escaped by running away but mentions hearing wolves. You can ask him “Who would try to kill you?” He tells you it’s either his neighbor, who thinks he’s bad luck, or his landlord, who wants a tenant that does not skip paying the rent. Respond “I’ll find out who attacked you” to continue.

Investigate the Crime Scene

The objective marker appears in the adjacent yard (2). Cross the street and locate the five clues.

Let’s start with the nearest clue (to the right as you enter the yard) and work counterclockwise around the yard to inspect the clues. They are:

  • A woman who saw the attack and blames the landlord. The attacker’s face was covered, but she blames the landlord because he hires soldiers to protect him.
  • A knife leaning up against a wagon wheel. Seems like something a poor farmer (the neighbor) would use.
  • A man blames the bull-headed neighbor. Says he must have finally snapped.
  • Broken armor. It’s valuable. The attacker must have been wealthy or lucky.
  • The black cloth near the boulder. Fine enough for a king. Could have been used as a mask.

Report to the Farmer

So now you must head back to Dolops (1) at his home and accuse either the neighbor or the landlord of trying to kill him.

Conversation with Dolops

When Dolops opens the door you can elect to say “Your neighbor wants you dead,” “Your landlord wants you dead,” or “I’m not sure” to back out of the conversation. We suggest you accuse the landlord. Eyewitnesses can’t be trusted as much as the physical evidence. The evidence points to the landlord. If you instead accuse the neighbor, you will have go across the street and talk to him, only to discover he’s innocent. Then you would find Dolops dead on his floor when you returned and would have to find out what little he knew about Chrysis from the treasure chest in his room. This does not totally reveal Chrysis’s identification like the other option does.

Confront the Landlord

So now that you’ve chosen correctly, head east to the landlord’s (3).

Eristenea House

Use Ikaros to tag the captain, the two treasures, all the guards, and the landlord in Eristenea House. It’s a small place with lots of cover within and around the house, making it very easy to stealthily kill all the soldiers. Make sure to take out the captain and then look for the landlord inside.

Walk up to the landlord (who will be facing a corner) and assassinate him stealthily. Loot his two treasures before you leave to talk to the farmer.

Report to the Farmer

Head back to the farmer’s house (1) and talk to him, this time inside his house. If you chose to accuse the neighbor, then this is when you would find Dolops dead on the floor (proving once again the landlord did it because you were with the neighbor when it happened). But you didn’t and he’s not. Talk to Dolops and he will reveal some good information.

Conversation with Dolops

Dolops tells you that Chrysis used to go to the Sanctuary of Asklepios. You can ask him “Where can I find Chrysis now?,” “How do you know Chrysis?,” and “What did Chrysis do?” and he’ll spill the beans. She prays at the Altar of Apollo Maleatas to decide which children to train and which to let die. She is Dolops’s mother, and she spoke of building an army with a champion at its head. He mentions masked ones too. Bingo! He just identified Chrysis as a member of the Cult of Kosmos.

Through this quest, you have just discovered the true identity of one of the members of the Cult of Kosmos: Chrysis. Her info page on the Cultists menu automatically opens. Ashes to Ashes is now unlocked. This is where you confront Chrysis.

Ashes to Ashes

  • Recommended Level: 23
  • Prerequisite: Complete Speak No Evil or A Herald of Murder
  • Unlocks: A Prescription for Discovery is one of three quest lines that must be completed to unlock the quest line Rising from the Ashes. The quest unlocked is Abandoned by the Gods.
  • Story: How you managed to retrieve information from a man with no tongue is beyond all reason. Now armed with the truth about your family, you set off to confront Chrysis.

Find and Reach the Forest Altar

Argolis: Valley of Dreams

Just south of Troezen Military Camp you can find the forest altar (1). When you are within about 180 meters of the location you are prompted to use Ikaros to pinpoint the location. When you arrive, you find a dead eagle on the altar. Everyone knows you and has been referring to you as the Eagle Bearer. This is a message from Chrysis.

Help the Crying Baby

After inspecting the dead eagle on the altar, you suddenly hear a baby crying in the distance. Prepare your equipment for a Warrior style fight. You will be running toward a couple of cultist guards with heavy armor near the next temple (2). If you know about them ahead of time you can remove them stealthily. However, your cover is blown when you get close to them. You can hide from them quickly if you really want to go Assassin, but there are only two and they are hiding in the bushes on either corner of the building. So going Warrior style works just as quickly.

After dealing with the cultists, approach the closed door of the temple to the east (2) and enter. Inside you will have a conversation with Chrysis.

Conversation with Chrysis

Inside you catch Chrysis red-handed, still handling stolen babies in the woods. She shares her memory of your mother and how she took her child. She knows you are the sibling and creepily states “My family is complete.” She claims Deimos was dead but she brought it back to life on this very altar by screaming to the gods. You can ask her where your mother is, and she tells you Myrrine is in Korinth and The Monger was supposed to bring her back to her. Ask her what happened to Deimos and you learn that she raised and tortured them. This lady is responsible for Deimos.

Save the Baby or Kill Chrysis

Chrysis throws a firebomb into the room, directly beside the altar with the baby. This objective should be renamed to “Save the baby or let the baby die.” Because that’s what’s going to happen if you don’t interact with the baby on the burning altar right in front of you and decide instead to ignore it and run out the door to kill Chrysis.

It was the right thing to do no matter what you tell yourself once outside. The mother of the baby shows up and thanks you for saving the infant. You come away from all this realizing that your mother believes your sibling died long ago. The quest line A Prescription for Discovery is complete. If you have also completed the quest lines Pirate Hospitality and Land of the Lawless, the quest line Rising from the Ashes unlocks. Its first quest is Abandoned by the Gods. You’ll be traveling to Athens next.
