Assassin's Creed Odyssey eGuide Reference

Gear

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey offers a large variety of weapons. Each performs in a unique way, providing their own strengths and weaknesses. There are six classifications of weapons: swords, daggers, spears, heavy blunt, heavy bladed, and staves.

These weapons come in four rarities: common, rare, epic, and legendary. The rarity of the item determines the number of perks that item has, imparting bonuses to your stats and abilities. The more powerful the item, based on its rarity, the more raw damage it will do. So sometimes, even though an item may not have the perks you want, it may still do more damage because it has a higher rarity.

This section also lists all of the legendary items and legendary set items found in the game. These items have unique engravings, and once you earn them the engravings can be used on other pieces of gear as well. Engravings found on legendary items are extremely powerful and allow you to really focus on specific abilities to customize your play style any way you see fit.

Swords

The sword is a straightforward, short-range weapon. The first regular attack closes small gaps, so use it to cover short distances. After a parry, triggering a heavy attack performs a very powerful but slow strike that knocks enemies down.

Due to how quickly swords attack, they are very good against fast enemies and are great for adrenaline regeneration. Swords are versatile weapons that can be effectively used against all enemy types.

Daggers

Daggers are the fastest weapon, and are dual-wielded. One of the great strengths of using a dagger comes from its lack of knock-back, which allows you to stay close to your target and lock it down. Regular attacks deal damage and regenerate adrenaline quickly, giving you enough time and adrenaline to unleash a devastating finisher. Use the heavy attack to leap across the battlefield while attacking. This is a great way to avoid attacks by quickly changing targets.

Spears

If you want to be in melee combat but still keep enemies at range, a spear is an excellent choice. The regular attack moves you forward, while the heavy attack takes a small step back before lunging forward into an attack. While the majority of the attacks are singletarget, the dodge heavy attack and the charge heavy attack hit all nearby enemies. These heavy attacks are a great way to crowd control lesser enemies.

Heavy Blunt

The strongest and slowest weapon, the heavy blunt type has both area-of-effect and single-target capabilities. It is by far the best weapon to parry with due to the high damage of each hit.

Heavy Bladed

Slightly faster than heavy blunt weapons, these weapons offer a good balance between slow and powerful. Because they perform sweeping attacks, they excel at taking down groups of enemies when you use heavy and charged heavy attacks.

Staves

While seemingly simple, the staff has some hidden tricks. The regular attack is perfect for locking enemies down, while the heavy attack works well for hitting enemies from a safe distance. Using a heavy attack after a parry hits all nearby enemies.
