Home Sweet Home
- Recommended Level: 32
- Prerequisite: Complete United Front
- Unlocks: Kings of Sparta, Bully the Bullies, One Bad Spartan Spoils the Whole Bunch
- Story: After helping your mother secure Naxos and learning the whereabouts of your real father, you set sail for Lakonia to face your Spartan past and reclaim the place you once called home.
Talk to Myrrine at Gytheion
Lakonia: Village of Gytheion
Dock the Adrestia at the Village of Gytheon’s port (1). You can find Myrrine (2) in the seaside village, waiting for you not far from the town’s message board. Talk to her. She asks if you have found your real father.
Conversation with Myrrine
Your mother asks what your real father (in the Between Two Worlds odyssey) told you. You can tell her “He told me what needs to be done,” and that will suffice. You’re afraid that you’re not his child but just a weapon. Your mother comforts you and says that’s not true. The subject switches to Sparta and how good it is to be together here again. You can respond “It’s good to be home” or opt to be more truthful with “I have mixed emotions” or “It doesn’t feel right.” Any of these responses is fitting.
Follow Myrrine
You both agree to see the old home, but first she wants to show you something. Follow Myrrine as she heads off through town to a stable to mount a horse. Call Phobos or take the second horse in the stable (3). You ride north, stopping only to destroy any threatening animals along the way.
She stops by a beautiful tree on a small hill (4) to the north and then dismounts and walks to the northern edge of the ledge, which overlooks a town to the north and a Spartan training ground just below the cliff.
Conversation with Myrrine
Your mother takes you to the area where she first taught you to use a spear. You spot some Spartan children in training below. They’re fighting some fierce wolves and you become very concerned for their well-being. Your mother says that’s the way Spartans train and you should not interfere. You can respond “I’m going to help them anyways,”“Yes, mater,” or “…” (no response at all). Your mother adds, “interfering would only weaken them, weaken Sparta.” She then tells you to follow her home.
Follow Myrrine or Kill the Wolves
The objective implies it’s not too late to help those poor children out with the wolves. It’s hard to resist knowing what you’ve been through, but the Spartan way is what has made you so strong. If you follow your mother without engaging and reach the bottom of the hill (away from the boys), then you lose the opportunity to help. But if you fire an arrow at the wolves or run down the hill and help then you get a little diversion quest. Oh, what the heck. Shoot arrows into those wolves. There are four of them.
Talk to the Injured Young Spartan
This objective only happens if you engage the wolves before following your mother down the opposite side of the hill. Remount your horse and follow Myrrine as she passes the training grounds below on horseback. Leave your mother and follow the marker to the injured young Spartan (5).
Conversation with Injured Young Spartan
You kneel at the injured young Spartan’s side and speak to him. He’s really hurt. He thinks you’re his parent. You can reply “I’m not your mater [pater]” or “I’m here.” He’s dying anyway—might as well comfort him. He apologizes for yelling at you and dies.
Conversation with Spartan Trainers
You tell his trainers that his death was unnecessary. They ask what you are doing here. You can respond “I was just passing by” or “I helped fight the wolves.” Tell them a lie and they’ll call you out. Either way they accuse you of interfering with Spartan law. Your mother joins the conversation and tells you breaking Spartan law can get you killed. You know, more than anyone, what it’ll get you.
Follow Myrrine
Again, mount your horse and follow Myrrine into and right through the middle of Sparta on horseback. She dismounts near the town icon on the map (6) and then walks a short distance east to your old house (7). This should look very familiar from your flashbacks.
Talk to Myrrine
Conversation with Myrrine
While you’re reminiscing in front of the old house, Nikolaos comes up in the conversation, and your mother tells you how proud he was of you. You can respond “He was a cruel man” or (warmer) “Despite everything, I’m grateful for his training.” She asks if you remember the first time you held your sibling. Answer, “I remember” or listen her story by choosing “That was a long time ago.” Brasidas walks up and surprises you. Tell him “Good to see you, Brasidas” to get a dig in about the warehouse fire where you saved the captives, or say “You shouldn’t sneak up on people” to let him steal the glory at the warehouse in front of your mother. He’s happy to see Myrrine alive.
Conversation with Brasidas
You tell Brasidas that you want your home back. He tells you Sparta claimed your estate after Nikolaos disappeared and is waiting for Stentor to claim it. Ask him “How do we get it back?” He’ll tell you that you need to negotiate your Spartan citizenship with the kings, and it’s not easy. King Archidamos won’t forget how Myrrine punched him in the nose. Brasidas suggests you help Sparta by taking care of the traitors who are giving the helots (serfs) weapons. You can get more info by asking why the Spartans help helots, where you can find those Spartans, and what should you do with them when you find them. Select “I’ll take care of this” to complete the conversation and this quest.
Bully the Bullies
- Recommended Level: 32
- Prerequisite: Complete Home Sweet Home
- Unlocks: N/A (This is one of two support quests that, if completed, reduce the number of tasks from the kings of Sparta to only two.)
- Story: You meet with Myrrine at the Tomb of Leonidas, where you learn more about your family history and your destiny and come face to face with Spartan kings both old and new.
Talk to Myrrine
Lakonia: Sparta
If you have not done so already, synchronize with the Temple of Athena Chalkioikos on your way to talk to your mother (1) at the Tomb of Leonidas. She is standing near a Spartan commander who is also a quest giver. Talk to him to pick up the side quest Ambition and then speak with your mother.
Conversation with Myrrine
Myrrine stands in the shadows of the extremely large statue of your grandfather, Leonidas. She tells you that the same blood courses through your veins. Respond “I’ve never forgotten.” She asks you to hold out your spear. She touches it and a vision from the past is seen.
In the flashback, Leonidas argues with the Cult of Kosmos and the Pythia about going to war with the Persians. The Pythia tells Leonidas that his fate is sealed. Xerxes will unite Sparta, bringing order to chaos. Leonidas storms out of the meeting and orders a Spartan soldier to gather the troops. He defies the cult and the Pythia and goes to war with Xerxes regardless.
When the flashback ends, Myrrine unites with you to take down the Cult of Kosmos, to finish what Leonidas could not. King Pausanias walks up and joins the conversation. There are two kings in Sparta—Pausanias and Archidamos. Pausanias is more new age while Archidamos is old school (and also the one Myrrine punched in the nose). You’ll meet Archidamos later. Your mother introduces you to King Pausanias. He recalls your story…how you died to save your sibling—an innocent child put to death because of an ancient, merciless law.
Conversation with King Pausanias
You can respond to Pausanias’s comment about your childhood heroic act by selecting “You don’t sound like most Spartans.” This choice is good because it points out his different political views from the old-school king, Archidamos. You tell him he sounds progressive. But keep in mind you need to keep the king happy; you are trying to regain citizenship. Or you could choose “I wasn’t the only one put to death” or “Sparta found me guilty.” But no matter your choice, you still receive the stink eye from your mother for your attitude with the king.
Next, tell him “I long for peace” or “Those laws tore us apart” and he’ll eventually ask you for a favor to sway his decision. He wants help with the Krypteia. You can ask where to find them and pry for more information on them, as well as ask for information on King Archidamos. Tell him “I’ll do this for you” to continue the quest.
Find and Kill the Three Rougue Krypteia Members
Three objective markers pop up on the map: (2), (5), and (6). We’ll head north to the nearest objective and continue the quest there at the Leader House (2).
Leader House
Use the tall grass around the house to get close to the guards around the perimeter and stealthily take out the loners. Search the rooftop for sleeping guards and eliminate them as they rest. Enter the home and whistle so nearby guards will enter your room; take them out without witnesses. If you cannot take him out stealthily, save the captain for last so he’ll receive no support.
The Soldier to Shoulder Ainigmata Ostraka (3) can be found in the same building with the first-floor treasure. The rogue Krypteia member (4) is not always in the same place and patrols the property. Find and execute him to complete a third of the objective; he has an objective marker above his head, making it easier to pick him out of the crowd.
Krokeai
Head south to the next closest objective marker (5). Send Ikaros to scout when you’re around 150 meters from the target. You find the rogue Krypteia on his soapbox, trying to incite a crowd of villagers. He’s an easy, unprotected target. Simply run up behind him and stab him in the neck or send an arrow into his head from a distance. For fun, try climbing the hill to the east of him and sliding down the zipline to perform a drop assassination.
Leader House
Ride northeast into Zarax Point to the final target (6) in the Fort of Praisai. Mark all the enemies and location objectives.
Enterin the fort from the weakly guarded eastern entrance and eliminate the lone polemarch (7) guarding the treasure in his tent. Scale the nearby fort walls, set a trap at the brazier (8), and begin sneaking along and eliminating the patrolling Spartans.
The final rogue Krypteia agent patrols the grounds around the many captives (9). Finish him off to complete the quest, and then complete the location objectives for the added XP, which is almost equal to the amount you’ll get from completing the quest!
One Bad Spartan Spoils the Whole Bunch
- Recommended Level: 35
- Prerequisite: Complete Home Sweet Home
- Unlocks: N/A (This is one of two support quests that, if completed, will reduce the number of tasks from the kings of Sparta to only two.)
- Story: Spartan traitors are fueling a rebellion by arming helots with weapons. Brasidas sends you to deal with these traitorous polemarchs to gain favor with the Spartan king, Archidamos.
Kill the Spartan Traitor and Destroy the Five Weapon Racks
Lakonia: Forest of Eurotas
Travel southwest and synchronize with the Taygetos Overlook viewpoint (1) in the Forest of Eurotas. This viewpoint gives you a great top-down view of your next destination, the Gorani Marble Quarry (2). While on this mountaintop, fly Ikaros over the quarry to locate the traitor and to tag all the enemies and location objectives. If you have started the Prince of Persia side quest, synchronizing with this viewpoint completes one of its objectives.
Gorani Marble Quarry
Approach this quarry from the top. Find a pit (3) on the top of the hill southwest and just a few meters from the top of the quarry. Use this entrance to start your infiltration. Descend into the pit and perform a drop assassination on the guard below. You drop into a tunnel that connects to the large exterior quarry.
The first weapon rack (4) to destroy is in the tunnel you dropped into, on the opposite side from the first treasure. The next closest rack is in the tunnel (5) under the multilayered tiers of the eastside quarry. It is next to a treasure. Loot that and all that’s left of the location objectives is to kill two captains and free those two captives.
The next closest weapon rack (6) is on the lookout tower on the east side of the quarry. Kick the pulley wheel and take a quick ride to the top. Steal the weapons and destroy the rack.
The next rack (7) is inside the tent in the small camp at the top of the quarry on the northeast side. This is where one of the captains patrols. Take him out and destroy the weapon rack. Free the two captives near this tent.
Finally, destroy the last weapon rack, which sits up against a northeastern quarry wall on the lowest level. Eliminate the traitor who wanders the quarry with an objective marker over his head. He’s the other captain in the fort. This completes the quest.
You now—with having also finished Bully the Bullies—have completed all the gift quests needed for the kings of Sparta so they don’t give you a third task after talking to them next in the Kings of Sparta quest.
Kings of Sparta
- Recommended Level: 35
- Prerequisite: Complete Home Sweet Home
- Unlocks: The Conqueror, Delivering a Champion, To Kill or Not to Kill (and if gift quests were not completed then A Legendary Hunt unlocks as well)
- Story: To regain your citizenship and reclaim your home, you have to convince Sparta’s kings. No one forgets that night on Mount Taygetos, and forgiveness comes at an incredible cost.
Meet Brasidas
Lakonia: Sparta
Follow the marker to Brasidas (1), who stands outside the kings’ chamber. When you approach him, the leaders of this region are revealed: the two kings of Sparta. The two houses that ruled Sparta both claimed to be descended from Herakles. They made political decisions together, the theory being that they’d keep each other honest. Talk to Brasidas.
Conversation with Brasidas
Brasidas says he can take you in to see the kings when you’re ready. You can tell him “I’m ready” and you’ll go in, or you can ask him “What should I expect?” and he’ll explain the kings to you. This unlocks two more minor questions—“Who is Pausanias?” and “Who is Archidamos?”—to really get a feel for their politics. Lastly, you can select “I’m not ready” in case you realize that you have not completed the gift quests for the king. If you have not completed the two support quests (Bully the Bullies and One Bad Spartan Spoils the Whole Bunch) then he will comment about the kings not looking kindly on you asking favors without offering some kind of help first. To which you can reply “I’ll take my chances” or, again, “I’ll come back.”
Once inside, you find the two kings fighting with spears to settle an argument. Archidamos stops short of killing Pausanias. Brasidas introduces you to the kings, who both remember the two of you quite well. Archidamos snaps at you for having the gall to show your face in Sparta. Brasidas defends you, pointing out your help securing Korinthia. And if you completed the support quests (Bully the Bullies and One Bad Spartan Spoils the Whole Bunch) he’ll add that you helped with the helot rebellion.
Your mother tells them that the two of you are there to reclaim Spartan citizenship and your home. She adds that Sparta was betrayed and that the two of you will expose the traitor. Archidamos tells her that she hasn’t cared for Sparta in years. This is where you butt into the conversation.
Conversation with Archidamos and Pausanias
When Archidamos tells Myrrine that she hasn’t cared for Sparta for years, you can say “How dare you!” or “It’s my fault” or simply say nothing with “…”—all of these responses make the kings agitated. However, defending your mother boldly with the first choice (“How dare you!”) gets a proud and loving reaction from your mother as you stand up for her. Archidamos will comment on how you cannot control your temper, just like your grandfather Leonidas. But if you take the blame with “It’s my fault,” then they don’t know if they should congratulate you or punish you for the crime you confessed to. Either way, they ask you what your intentions are.
You can now answer “To find and kill our betrayers” or “To make Sparta my home.” Since they are not giving you citizenship until you prove yourself, let them know that you are going to find the betrayers.
King Archidamos asks you to conquer the Athenians in Boeotia to prove your loyalty. Answer “No problem.” King Pausanias asks you to win the Olympics for Sparta. Answer “Name it.” And if you did not complete the gift support quests for the king then they’ll give you a third task (to kill a legendary wolf).
In a cinematic, Brasidas escorts you out of the building and walks you to your old home, where another conversation takes place.
Conversation with Brasidas
Brasidas agrees that the meeting went well and asks you if there’s anything you need to know before setting off. You can ask him why the kings are sending you to Boeotia, what he knows about the Olympics, and his thoughts about the cultists. If you did not complete the gift support quests you can also ask about the legendary wolf. When you ask about the cultists, Brasidas has no opinion either way, but your mother says “We need to find proof before we make accusations.” Select “I’ve heard enough” to complete the quest.
You earn a large amount of XP, a fair amount of drachmae, and the regal greaves armor (boots) for completing this mission. You also unlock several quest lines and their support quests. You unlock The Olympian quest line and its support quest, Delivering a Champion, as well as the quest line Paint It Red and its support quest, The Conqueror. You also unlock the quest line that involves finding clues about which king is the traitor. This happens in the quest line The Cult and the Archon and its support quest, To Kill or Not to Kill.
