- Story: In a move to rally the Athenians, Kleon left safety to lead an army to reclaim Amphipolis from the Spartans. You need to make this Kleon’s last campaign.
Talk to Brasidas in Amphipolis
Makedonia: Roots of An Empire
Find the nearest ship dock and call the Adrestia. Travel north to Makedonia’s western shores and dock the ship (1). Climb the scaffold and find a winch to kick to send you to the top of Amphipolis’s defensive wall. Brasidas (2) is outside with other soldiers.
Conversation with Brasidas
You greet Brasidas, and his reaction to you depends on if you always sided with him when it came to assassinations (The Monger and Lagos). If you are on good terms, then he welcomes you and tells you it’s good to see you. If on not so good terms, he turns his back to you while mentioning it looks like you got his message. Either way he talks about his leg injury in Pylos.
You can ask Brasidas “What happened to you after Pylos?” or “Where’s Kleon?” If things are not so good between you, Brasidas will mention that you left the battle. If things are hunky-dory then he’ll react more optimistically and mention “…but they didn’t kill me.” Brasidas tells you that Kleon is here in Amphipolis actually fighting beside his men.
If you are on Brasidas’s bad side, then you can continue by selecting “Let’s get going,” and if you are on his good side then say “It’s time to strike.” You notice something is bothering him if you are on his bad side.
Escort Brasidas to the Battlefield
Follow Brasidas and his troops down to the construction site (3) and use your bow to mark the archers on top of the scaffolding near the cranes. Begin taking out archers with your own arrows and some special abilities.
Help Brasidas and his troops defeat all the Athenian solders in the area and then follow Brasidas down to the dock to clear out the remaining threat. After the area is clear he heads southeast to the battlefield (4). Follow him there.
Join the Fight against the Athenians
Once on the battlefield (4), destroy Athenians attacking you in the beginning, but always be on the lookout for captains to kill. After you kill a few captains and a polemarch, Deimos makes an appearance again. Deimos unfortunately puts Brasidas’s head on a pike no matter how your relationship was with him.
In the same cinematic, you block Deimos’s weapon from hitting you just as Kleon shoots an arrow into Deimos’s back, knocking Deimos to the ground.
Kill Kleon
There’s no time to loot the dead. Follow Kleon to the shoreline (5) and send arrows his way to soften him up as you approach him. He’s not much of a match for you. Finish him off quickly. Talk to him before the final assassination move.
Conversation with Kleon
You enter an automatic conversation with Kleon when you drain his health meter. He asks for mercy. You yell at him about how he has turned Deimos against the family. Kleon suggests you join Deimos and fight side by side. He says, “My hands are empty—have pity!” You have a choice of how to assassinate him: Say “I’ll kill you mercifully” and you’ll break his neck quickly, or choose “I’m going to kill you slowly” and you’ll drown him with your foot on the back of his head.
The quest ends when Kleon is dead. He was both a leader and a cultist. You earn Paris’s bow, a good amount of XP, a cultist clue (The Ghost’s whisper to Kleon), and an artifact fragment (quest item). Where It All Began unlocks.
