The Adrestia — Assassin's Creed Odyssey eGuide

The Adrestia is the ship you receive after defeating the Cyclops and rescuing Barnabas at the beginning of the game. Once you choose to leave Kephallonia, you are granted command of the ship and given a brief tutorial on how to control her. The Adrestia is a magnificent vessel but can only remain so if you keep her upgraded and in fighting shape. This requires a lot of resources but makes you quite formidable, especially when facing off against multiple opponents, which happens often.

Ship Stats

There are six ship stats that make up the strength of the Adrestia: Ship Health, Arrow Damage, Ramming Damage, Javelin Damage, Fire Damage, and Ship Armor. Each of these stats increases based on your current level, the lieutenants you are using, and that particular stat’s relevant upgrade path.

Ship Health and Ship Armor are both boosted by purchasing hull upgrades. These can be found under Ship & Crew Endurance. Arrow Damage can be boosted by purchasing upgrades in Arrow Volleys and Arrows, which can be found under Arsenal and Weapons Damage, respectively. Ramming Damage is one of the most powerful attacks your ship has, and it can be boosted by purchasing ram upgrades under Weapons Damage. Fire Damage is gained only by purchasing the first upgrade of Fire Braziers under Arsenal. This amazing attack allows you to switch normal arrows and javelins to fire versions.

Ship Upgrades

Ship upgrades can be expensive, so make sure you are hunting for resources on land and at sea. Every upgrade also requires a significant amount of drachmae, so be careful when spending money at the blacksmith to make sure the Adrestia’s stats don’t suffer.

Special Lieutenants

Lieutenants are enemy soldiers you have recruited or people you have met on your travels and helped in some way. These individuals come with abilities that boost stats on the Adrestia. The higher the rarity of an individual the more stats and strength of stats they possess. With enemies you can see their stats before you decide if you want to recruit them by using Ikaros and targeting them. For other people you must into the Ship menu and hover your cursor over them when accessing the special lieutenants area.

There is a limited amount of space for lieutenants, so if you find your hold full of special characters it is possible to dismiss them from duty. As you upgrade the ship hull you can assign more lieutenants, stacking even more bonuses.

Ship Cosmetics

There are three types of cosmetics in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. These cosmetics do not affect gameplay in any way, except to customize your ship’s and crew’s appearance. The three cosmetics categories are Ship Hull & Sails, the Figurehead, and the Crew. You must scour the world of ancient Greece to find these items by exploring locations. Some of these are also earned by completing quests and vanquishing unique ships.
