Dead Rising 2 eGuide Walkthrough Case 7-1: Bad to Worse

Case 7-3: What Lies Beneath

You’ve got the evidence you need to blow this conspiracy wide open—you just need to return to the Safe House to put it in Rebecca’s capable hands.

No need to worry about braving the Underground tunnels again; armed with the Lab Key Card, you can now use the nearby elevator to return to the surface.

You emerge from the elevator in one of the Palisades Mall’s maintenance halls. Since you’re so close to it, head upstairs and use the shortcut to quickly return to Royal Flush Plaza, then make for the Safe House. Feel free to exploit the grotto bar’s blender if you like.

LONG ARM OF THE PHARM

SPOILER : Chuck storms into the security room, eager to show Rebecca his findings. The savvy reporter quickly puts it all together: With fewer and fewer zombie outbreaks, Phenotrans’s best-selling drug, Zombrex, isn’t in demand like it used to be.

Clearly, the pharmaceutical Conglomerate has engineered this outbreak to enhance the power of zombies, thereby creating a new crisis designed to stimulate worldwide profits. Diabolical!

SPOILER : Tragically, Rebecca doesn’t get the chance to shock the world with her story. As the young reporter begins to phone her radio station, Sullivan puts a bullet through her head. That snake—he’s been on Phenotrans’s payroll all along!

SPOILER : Sullivan has designs on silencing Chuck as well, but Stacey acts fast and knocks his gun from his hand. When Chuck grabs the hand gun off the floor, Sullivan takes his opportunity to flee the scene.

The Facts

SPOILER : The awful truth has at last come to light. Pharmaceutical giant Phenotrans, makers of Zombrex, is the true force behind the Fortune City outbreak—and Raymond Sullivan has been working for them all along.

Rebecca Chang is dead, killed by Sullivan, who is no doubt trying to escape Fortune City. Little does he realize that Chuck Greene isn’t about to let that happen.

LEVEL UP, CHUCK

With several hours to kill, now is a fantastic time to level up our hero.

You need every advantage to beat Sullivan, so use combo weapons against zombies to amass PP, or outfit Chuck’s motorbike with a chain saw at the Combo Bay and mow down those ghouls along the strip.

Minigames are also good ways to earn PP; see the “Unearthing Fortune City” chapter for a complete breakdown of everything that’s available to you in each section of the city.

This is also a perfect time to bring Katey any gifts that you haven’t yet given her. You don’t have to go far to find these items, and they’re each worth significant PP when given to Katey.

Only Snowflake and the funny painting that you purchased from Randolph during the “Art Appreciation” side mission were one-time deals—hopefully you were able to give those gifts to Katey when you had the chance.

Here’s a complete list of the remaining gifts you can give to Chuck’s little girl:
