POINTS OF INTEREST
1. MAINTENANCE ROOM 20
Platinum Strip’s southeast maintenance room sports two boxes of nails and a propane tank. Several baseball bats are found on the cart just north of the room as well.
This gives you the easy makings for two spiked bats (baseball bat + box of nails), or one spiked bat and a deadly I.E.D. (box of nails + propane tank).
2. MAINTENANCE ROOM 21
The north maintenance room contains a leaf blower and a power drill, and there’s a bucket and parasol just outside. This gives you the ingredients for a parablower and drill bucket.
3. MAINTENANCE ROOM 22
Inside the strip’s southwest maintenance room you find a lawn mower and two bottles of whiskey.
There’s a newspaper and a wheelchair right outside the room as well. With these items you can cobble together a molotov (newspaper + whiskey) and a handy chipper (wheelchair + lawn mower), and still have a bottle of whiskey left for after the show.
4. PAWNSHOP: MOE’S MAGINATIONS
All pawnshops offer Zombrex and other interesting wares, but only at Moe’s Maginations will you find knight boots on sale for a cool two million.
Buy these boots, which are stored in Chuck’s locker at the safe house, to compliment the knight armor that unlocks after you beat the game’s special overtime ending. See the “Brain Food” chapter for tips on how to stockpile funds quickly in Fortune City.
5. ELEVATED GOODIES
Chuck can elevate himself in a variety of ways here at Platinum strip. For starters, vault onto the two large cement blocks near the steps leading up to Fortune Park, then climb onto the wooden ledge above. From here, you can run west along a series of shop awnings.
Several common items are stashed along the south awnings, including a carton of milk and other curatives. A hidden shotgun awaits at the end of the run.
To explore the strip’s northern awnings, first climb onto the snack machine that’s right outside of Cash Gordon’s Casino. This leads you to a ledge with a powerful LMG frearm.
Continue leaping along the awnings past the LMG to discover some gems next to a flashlight. This gives you the makings for a powerful laser sword, and as luck would have it, there’s a maintenance room just below.
Past the gems and fashlight lies a magazine, Psychos, which gives Chuck a 25 percent PP boost whenever he defeats a dangerous psychopath enemy. Psychos pay out huge amounts of PP when killed, so this mag’s well worth keeping!
6. LONG LADDER
Locate a ladder in the alley near Maintenance Room 21 and use it to climb up to the small roof of the Paradise Platinum Screens cinema.
There isn’t a whole lot of interest up here, but this ladder comes in handy when Chuck faces off against some psychotic snipers.
7. PLATINUM PLATES
Food is strangely scarce at Dining at Davey’s, but there is a coffee creamer in the shop’s far southwest corner.
You can also grab pans and place them on the stove in the kitchen to score a small amount of bonus PP. This trick only works when a fresh pan is placed on an as-yet unused burner, mind you.
Then there’s Juggz Bar & grill, where Chuck discovers a handy blender. Use this device to combine different foods into potent juice drinks that give Chuck special abilities! See this guide’s “Appendix” chapter for a list of the various juices you can mix.
8. COMBO CARD: LASER SWORD
No visit to Platinum Strip is complete without a stroll through the Paradise Platinum Screens movie theater.
Chuck finds a bit of junk food in here, and more importantly, a poster that can be examined to acquire the light sword combo card!
Don’t leave the theater without checking out the latest blockbuster hit. Watching a flick on the big screen here is worth easy PP, and there’s a new movie playing each day.
9. STRIP TEASERS
Last but not least, there’s a handgun in the strip’s northwest grassy ledge. This could come in handy!
There’s also a special standee near the north TIR Souvenir Kiosk. Get behind the standee and examine it to have Chuck strike a silly pose worth a handful of PP.
