You’ve never seen a shopping mall like this, with marble statues and towering pillars, Palisades Mall brings classic style to a new age of consumerism. Two foors of shopping utopia are waiting for you!
POINTS OF INTEREST - FIRST FLOOR
1. MAINTENANCE ROOM 7
The northeast maintenance room on Palisades Mall’s first floor contains a toy water gun and a push broom. Merge the toy water gun with the fire extinguisher that’s just outside the room to form a fun snowball cannon that freezes and kills zombies.
Grab a machete from within the nearby store, Shank’s, and affix it to the push broom to form a nasty pole weapon.
2. MAINTENANCE ROOM 8
Duck into the southwest maintenance room on Palisades Mall’s frst floor to locate the makings for a hacker (flashlight + computer case)— this comes in handy when used against ATMs, causing them to cough up $10,000 when zapped.
A pair of boxing gloves and a container of motor oil can be found just outside the room as well—everything you need to assemble some righteous flaming gloves!
3. ROCKIN’ ’ROUND THE GROTTO
Palisades Mall’s central grotto is a hub of awesomeness. Let’s start with the interior bar: here you fnd a paddle on a ledge and a chain saw behind the counter — just the ingredients you need to construct the incredibly nasty paddlesaw.
There are two tiki torches in here as well; combine these with toy spitball guns, which can be found inside the nearby toy store, Ultimate Playhouse, to create a pair of long-range fire spitters.
The grotto bar also features a blender. Mix up some juice drinks to keep Chuck in good health and grant him special advantages. See this guide’s “Appendix” chapter for complete details on juice drinks and their effects.
Scale the grotto’s exterior steps to reach the lounge pool up top. A Playboy magazine is foating in the water up here, which gives you a 10 percent PP bonus whenever you earn PP from assisting a female survivor.
Snag one of the many parasols atop the grotto and locate a leaf blower in the grassy ledges that border the area. These two items can be combined to form a parablower that sends zombies flying.
When you’re ready to return to the ground foor, don’t take the stairs again — that’s boring. Instead, approach the grotto’s slide and press the interact button to slide down, scoring 10,000 PP in the process!
4. MORE IN STORES
Palisades Mall has plenty of unique boutiques. Let’s run down some of the cooler things you’ll find in the first floor’s stores.
Among all manner of exciting toys, the Ultimate Playhouse also has a magazine, amusement, that increases the durability of toy-based weapons. Practical? Not really, but it’s there!
Flexin’ has a pushable dolly that can help Chuck motor through the mall. Don’t leave the store until you’ve given Chuck a workout on each of its exercise bikes, though. Chuck can score 1,000 PP just by riding each bike for a brief period.
Shank’s is an excellent source of all things sharp and pointy. Swing by and smash those display cases to wrap your mitts around bowie knives, meat cleavers, machetes, and even a zombie-slaughtering broadsword
Bow and arrow weapons can also be acquired here, which combine with the dynamite you find upstairs to craft lethal blambows. (More on that in a bit.)
5. ODD COMBOS
A pitchfork is stuck in the dirt near the tall plants between Palisades Mall’s south escalators. Grab it, then leap atop the nearby King’s Crown slot machines (near the ATMs) to obtain a drill motor.
Combine these two items to form an awesome auger! Or merge the pitchfork with a shotgun from the second floor’s high-noon shooting range to build an excellent boomstick.
More King’s Crown slot machines stand at the frst foor’s north end. leap onto them to locate a lead pipe, then combine this with the rocket freworks found in Ultimate Playhouse to build a gloriously lethal rocket launcher.
POINTS OF INTEREST - SECOND FLOOR
1. MAINTENANCE ROOM 9
Palisades Mall’s second floor has just one maintenance room, located along its west wall—but it’s a doozy. Inside you find a lawn mower and a stick of dynamite, and there’s a servbot mask and fre extinguisher just outside the door.
Combine the dynamite and fre extinguisher for a crowd-clearing freezer bomb, and merge the lawn mower with the servbot mask for a hilariously lethal super slicer.
2. PAWNSHOP: ARMY SURPLUS GIFT STORE
Plenty of interesting wares are on sale at the army surplus gift store, including Zombrex, but the chopper key is of particular interest.
Though pricey at $1,000,000, this key lets you drive the chopper motorcycle that’s parked on high at the Yucatan Casino. See the “Brain Food” chapter for tips on how to amass that kind of cash.
3. SHOTGUN DIVORCE
Climb onto the counter of the second floor’s north kiosk, Severed Ties, then scamper up onto the kiosk’s roof. Vault onto the circular sign up here to locate a hidden shotgun!
4. NOT FOR KIDS
Pop into Kid’s Choice Clothing to locate two very unexpected items. Near the far wall, a chain saw rests atop some boxes in the corner.
There’s a stick of dynamite in the nearby crib as well. If it weren’t for the recent outbreak, this store would have quite the lawsuit on its hands.
Grab that chain saw from Kid’s Choice Clothing and sprint to the nearby store, Under the sea travels, to discover a couple of paddles. Merge one with the chain saw to create the exceptionally deadly paddlesaw.
5. SPORTS AND SPARKLIES
The second floor of Kokonutz sports town features skateboards to help Chuck get around, along with an endless supply of hockey sticks that make ideal crowd-control weapons.
Inside everything diamond you’ll find lots of gems — combine some with the leaf blower that’s found atop the first-foor grotto to assemble a lethal, long-range gem blower!
6. FINE DINING
For nutritional nourishment, you really can’t beat Chris’s Fine Foods. Here you’ll find endless supplies of some of the best curatives in the game, such as steak, pizza, milk and orange juice.
Find key components for potent juice drinks here and bring them down to the first-foor grotto’s blender to whip them together.
7. FEEL THE HEAT
Leigh’s Fine Liquor holds a bevy of alcoholic beverages, including plenty of whiskey. Combine these bottles with the many newspapers found in Robsaka Mobile and Stan’s Large Print Books & Magazines to create a host of faming-hot molotovs.
You’ll also find several magazines inside Stan’s, including sports (increases the durability of sports-related weapons),
Horror 2 (25 percent more PP from zombies you kill), and Gambling 2, which significantly increases the chances of winning at the city’s various slot machines and assorted gambling games.
8. GUNS, GUNS, GUNS
High Noon Shooting Range is to firearms what Palisades Mall’s first-floor store, Shank’s, is to bladed weapons. Here you fnd an endless supply of handguns and grenades, along with two shotguns and two sniper rifles.
All of these can be tucked away for later use, making high noon shooting range your number 1 source of firearms in Fortune City!
9. BLADES FOR DAYS
Speaking of Shank’s, you can find many other devious bladed devices in Ned’s Knicknackery. Smash the display cases within Ned’s to score spears, battleaxes, a broadsword and a lance — all thoroughly lethal weapons in their own unique ways.
10. LOOSE BOOMSTICKS
Peek at the plants on the second foor’s far south end to discover two hidden sticks of dynamite. Merge these with the bow and arrow weapons found at shank’s on the frst foor and enjoy some good times with blambows.
11.COMBO CARD: SNOWBALL CANNON
Inspect the poster on the wall to the left of Ned’s Knicknackery to acquire the snowball cannon’s combo card. drop down to the frst foor and visit Maintenance Room 7 to find the components for this bone-chilling combo weapon.
