Dead Rising 2 eGuide Walkthrough Case 1-1: Big News

Optional Psycho: Ted and Snowflake

The first time you enter Yucatan Casino, you encounter an obese psycho named Ted, who has design son feeding Chuck to his beloved tiger, Snowflake. Not very friendly!

Ted is one of the easiest psychos, but Snowflake is quite a handful. Ignore the tiger and whale on Ted, who is armed with a lackluster handgun and weak melee attacks.

Rush the pudgy psycho and beat him senseless with your spiked bat or weapon of choice. (In a pinch, a fire axe lies on the ground near Ted’s starting position.)

Snowflake will pounce on you from time to time as you wallop on her master. If she tackles you to the ground, quickly imitate the on screen commands to escape and reduce the damage you suffer.

Continue to ignore Snowflake until you’ve dealt with Ted.

If you need to heal up, race for Baron Von Brathaus, where you’ll discover all manner of food items, along with the Health 2 magazine, which doubles the healing effect of all curatives.

Use the blender on the counter to mix up juice drinks if you like, or simply down some wine for fast healing. Just don’t drink more than three alcoholic beverages or Chuck will get sick!

TAMING THE TIGER

After the fat man finally falls, turn your attention to taming Snowflake. To do this, return to the west fire pit area where the psycho fight first began and grab a third steak off the rock.

Stand in the relatively spacious area just outside of the fire pit area and use the Aim button to toss a steak onto the ground in open territory.

You can also find a steak on a table inside of Baron Von Brathaus if you’re one short, and there’s another atop the casino’s overhead platforms, which you can reach by jumping off slot machines and the like. Carrying steaks with you into the casino is the easiest way to go, though.

Position Chuck so that the steak you’ve thrown is between him and Snowflake. When the vicious kitty charges, she’ll catch the steak’s scent, slow down, and gobble it up instead.

Lure Snowflake into consuming three steaks to tame her, satisfying an achievement and acquiring a unique breed of survivor.

LOCATING LENNY

If there’s ample time left on the “Short Sighted” mission, call out to gather your survivors—including Snowflake—and make for the casino’s south VIP room by entering a door near the bar.

Inside you find a man named Lenny, who will only join Chuck if Snowflake has been killed or tamed.

Speak with Lenny until he joins you, then follow him across the casino floor and into the north maintenance room. Examine the switch that Lenny shows you to turn on all the slot machines within Yucatan Casino. Nice!

COMBO CARD: FREEDOM BEAR

Check your map to find you’re right next to the Yucatan Casino’s restrooms. Enter them and eye the poster on the wall just outside the men’s room to obtain the freedom bear combo card.

COMBO CARD: BLAMBOW

Time is likely running out on the “Short Sighted” mission by now, so don’t dally. Lead your gang of survivors back to the Safe House, cutting through the Food Court and Slot Ranch Casino on your way to Royal Flush Plaza.

As you move through the Food Court, examine the poster on the south west wall to acquire the combo card for the awesome blambow.

SIDE MISSION: SHORT SIGHTED

Race back toward Royal Flush Plaza and take up to its second floor. Bolt into Children's Castle to location a confused old woman named Esther. Speak with Esther multiple times until she at last complete the mission, allowing you to relax at last.

Esther is slow and vulnerable, so you’ll need to carry her back to the Safe House—this is why we advised you not to visit her until this point.

Chuck can only kick while carrying a survivor, so it’s a good thing the bunker isn’t far. Make sure Chuck’s in good health before sweeping Esther off her feet.

You’ll likely get a call from Stacey as you escort your troop back to the Safe House. She asks Chuck to meet her at the security room—this is your clue that you can now begin Case 2, and you’re already on your way.

Pat yourself on the back if you manage to bring all five survivors back to the Safe House. Time was againstyou, but you played it smart and over came the odds.

Your prize: a metric boatload of PP, and a very exotic gift for Chuck’s little girl—Snowflake the tiger!

Save your game at the Safe House restroom, then enter the security office to speak with Stacey. Your next case is about to begin.
