All TIR shows end with a white-knuckle round of America’s favorite event, Slicecycles! In this grueling grande finale, all four contestants ride souped-up motorbikes with chain saws attached to their handles.
An arena flled with undead stretches out ahead — gentlemen, start your engines!
Depending on how well you’ve fared up to this point in the show, you may suffer a slight time penalty before you’re able to join in the slicecycle mayhem.
The lower your current score, the longer you have to wait. Don’t worry; the penalty is minimal, for it’s impossible to score big until the Bonus Round.
Speed back and forth along the arena, aiming to run down as many hapless zombies as possible. Don’t worry about collisions with other racers; you can’t be harmed in a crash, only knocked off course or slowed down a bit.
The key to succeeding in Slicecycles lies in mastering the art of the turn. After making a run down the arena (lengthwise, of course, to ensure you kill the most zombies with each pass), simultaneously turn and begin feathering the brake.
The idea is to gain only a bit of height up the ramped outer edges so that you quickly build speed as you come out of the turn.
Another sound strategy is to turn before you reach the arena’s outer ramps, keeping as close to the undead mob as possible.
Again, feather the brake as you turn to perform a powerslide instead of coming to a dead stop.
If your bike is coming to a complete stop while changing direction, you’re wasting precious seconds with each turn, which add up over the course of the game.
The Bonus Round kicks off before long. Many more zombies are deployed to the arena by overhead drop pods. Look for clusters of zombies that carry pink balloons and slaughter them all for huge score bonuses!
Strive to strike as many of those balloon-toting bonus zombies as possible — they’re the key to victory.
If you see a huge crowd, slow down and try to mow them all down, feathering the brake to make tight turns. Even the slightest contact is enough to kill these poor souls!
Because the zombies are deposited at random, luck plays a role in your Slicecycle success. Sometimes you’ll get on a great run.
Other times, you’ll find you’re always out of position while your rivals run away with the victory.
Keep your cool and do your best to score as high as you can — a vast amount of points can be won from this final event, and losing the lead is easy if you don’t stay competitive!
