Dead Rising 2 eGuide Walkthrough Case 2-1: Sign of Life

Case 2-1: Sign of Life

Returning to the safe House’s security office, Chuck notices something on one of the monitors: People are gathered in the underground tunnels beneath fortune City, and they appear to be shifting some sort of cargo.

Desperate for a lead, Chuck wastes no time rushing off to investigate.

SIDE MISSION: MEET THE CONTESTANTS

Chuck may be in a hurry to clear his name, but this also happens to be a perfect time to complete some profitable side missions. Make sure you’re carrying two fresh spiked bats, then set your guide arrow to the “Meet the Contestants” side mission.

Cut through Americana Casino on your way to the Platinum strip, mixing up some Pain Killer juice drinks at your local bar, Shots & Awe.

Follow your guide arrow to Palisades Mall’s south end, where Chuck encounters a thrill-seeking psycho named Leon. (You might remember this guy from Chuck’s last “Terror is Reality” event.)

Leon wants revenge and, after slaying an innocent man named Carlos in cold blood, he tosses Chuck the keys to a nearby motorbike and races off.

You can’t let a lunatic like that roam free. Climb onto the bike and speed east along the strip, chasing Leon into fortune Park.

Pursue Leon until you finally catch sight of him—he’ll be cruising all around fortune Park, mowing down zombies.

When you finally locate Leon, do the unthinkable and get off your bike—it’s no use trying to ram Leon because he’ll always knock you for a loop, and you can’t fight him from the bike’s seat.

Keep an eye on Leon while moving on foot, doing your best to keep away from tight packs of zombies. each time Leon zips toward you, run to one side to avoid being hit. it’s surprisingly easy to avoid Leon as long as you see him coming and are quick to react.

Immediately after dodging Leon, round on him and close in to land a few hits with your spiked bat. He’ll  soon speed away and make another charge, so be ready to dodge to one side and strike again.

Keep avoiding Leon’s charges and punishing him at every opportunity, aiming to inflict as much damage as you can.

If you need to heal, flee to high ground or a building—any where Leon isn’t likely to reach you. Keep this up until you finally manage to knock Leon off his high horse.

Chuck not only earns a huge amount of PP for defeating Leon, but also gains access to the Combo bay, located at the silver strip’s far north end. Here, Chuck is free to pursue his favorite hobby: modifying bikes!

See the “Unearthing fortune City” chapter of this guide for complete details on bike modifications, including all the devious devices you can rig up to Chuck’s bike for ungodly amounts of mayhem.

COMBO CARD: PADDLESAW

Set the “barn burner” task as your next objective, then hop onto the motorbike inside the Combo bay and streak down the strip, heading for fortune City arena. This is just a small taste of the epic carnage Chuck can cause from his bike.

On your way, pause for a moment and hop off the bike to examine the poster on the standing display at silver strip’s south end. This gives Chuck the notion to build the delightfully deadly paddlesaw.
