With Danni following Chuck’s lead, make your way to Fortune Park, heading for the entrance to Atlantica Casino.
If you don’t have a firearm on hand, climb onto the standing poster display at the Silver Strip’s south end (the same one that gave you the paddlesaw combo card) and collect a handgun from up top.
A briefcase toting man named Janus is being harassed by zombies near the entrance to the Atlantica Casino. Wipe out the surrounding ghouls so you may speak with Janus, discovering that his case is full of moola.
Janus won’t accompany Chuck to the Safe House unless he’s packing a firearm—good thing you grabbed that handgun a moment ago.
SIDE MISSION: MAIL ORDER ZOMBREX
With Janus and Danni hot on Chuck’s heels, motor into Royal Flush Plaza and save your game in the restroom. Order your followers to wait inside the restroom, then exit and inspect the mail cart that’s right outside.
Peeking at the mail cart triggers a showdown against a psychopath named Carl. This guy has gone totally postal, wielding a rapid-fire shotgun and armed with a host of explosive packages. You’d best deliver him some swift justice!
Like Slappy, Carl always fires his shotgun in bursts of three. Circle around Carl to avoid his shots, then quickly close in and deliver as much first-rate punishment as you can.
Eventually, Carl will whack you with his shotgun and flee. When Carl runs, he often hurls an explosive package or two at Chuck, along with a bit of postal humor, like “Special delivery!” Get moving—you don’t want to be anywhere near by when Carl’s packages go boom.
Carl’s attacks are powerful, but this psycho isn’t too difficult to box up. Just stay mobile and circle around Carl to avoid his gunfire before closing in.
Flee from those mail bombs, and if you need to heal up, retreat to any store to consume food—there’s a carton of orange juice at the nearby Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow newsstand, and you’ll find the usual array of coffee creamers at The Dark Bean.
Defeating Carl nets you a healthy dose of PP, and also a much-needed shot of Zombrex. Looks like Katey will be safe from the horrors of undeath for another 24 hours.
SIDE MISSION: THE SECRET OF CHARLIE’S GOLD
You’ve got Katey’s Zombrex, but there’s still plenty of time between now and 7:00 AM.
Bring Danni and Janus back to the Safe House for some PP and a huge amount of “thank you” cash from Janus, then enter the cafeteria and speak with Lenny, the survivor you rescued from Yucatan Casino’s VIP room.
Lenny has a story to tell about some hidden loot inside Yucatan Casino’s vault; speak with him multiple times to shake loose the vault access code.
Use Linette’s shortcut to quickly reach the Palisades Mall, then make tracks to Yucatan Casino. Enter the east cashier area to reach the vault. Examine the control panel near the vault door to open it using Lenny’s pass code.
Once inside the vault, examine the lockbox that draws Chuck’s eye. This nets you a tidy sum of cash; hurry back into Palisades Mall with your new found moola.
SIDE MISSION: FETCHING FEMALES
You need a bit of cash for this task—$10,000, to be exact—so it’s a good thing you’ve just come from Yucatan Casino. Make your way to Palisades Mall’s central grotto and head up its winding stairs to locate three sassy female survivors.
Speak to the boss-lady, Cora, to find that the women are professional escorts, and that they demand a steep $10,000 fee to accompany you back to the Safe House.
Talk about expensive tastes! Pay up to gain the ladies’ company, then make your way up to the mall’s second floor and take the shortcut back to Royal Flush Plaza.
