Dead Rising 2 eGuide Walkthrough Case 2-1: Sign of Life

Ticket to Ride

Case 2-2 is likely running short on time by now, so after escorting your survivors to the safe House and saving, set your guide arrow and rush off to Palisades Mall.

Construct a spiked bat on the way and then down a Quick step to hasten the trip.

Streak to the far end of Palisades Mall and locate a door that leads to fortune City’s Underground. The door is marked with orange signage that reads “service” and the guide arrow leads you directly to it.

After moving through the door, head downstairs and save your game at the restroom at the foot of the stairs. You’re about to begin a challenging mission.

SPOILER : Just beyond the stairwell, Chuck spies a group of workers in orange uniforms who are milling about a warehouse. A train soon pulls up, and none other than Tyrone “T.K.” King, the obnoxious voice of the “Terror is Reality” game show, steps off.

What could that clown possibly have to do with all of this?

The men notice Chuck, after having a good laugh, T.K. orders his cronies after him. Looks like you’ll need to fight your way out of this.

MERCENARY MASH-UP

The men in orange suits are hired mercenaries, and each one carries a rapid-fire assault rifle. Take cover behind the warehouses’ tall shelves and time their firing patterns, popping out to let lose with your spiked bat between bursts.

The mercenaries’ gunfire is surprisingly weak, so don’t worry about being shot a few times. Be aggressive, using the shelves as cover only when you’re not bashing in a mercenary’s brains. Defeat all three orange-clad thugs to advance.

HIGH SPEED PURSUIT

T.K.’s mercenaries didn’t get the job done, and the gutless villain isn’t about to hang around. He orders his remaining men to board the train, and quickly departs.

Chuck manages to knock a mercenary straggler off a motorbike. Seeing a golden opportunity, he quickly hops onto the bike and races off to catch up to the crooked game show host.

Hit the gas and get after that train. beware: The mercenaries near the back will open fire and toss debris at you, some of which is dangerously explosive. Do your best to avoid being hit as you race onward.

Your objective is to board the train. To do this, you must race up one of the tunnel’s side ramps, using it to catch some air and soar onto the back of the train. You must be very close to the train to make the jump, so avoid falling behind.

Keep speeding toward the train and leaping off ramps until you at last manage to sail aboard. Time for some payback, punks!

TICKETS PLEASE

You face many more armed mercenaries aboard the train. Dispatch them as you did the previous trio: Hide behind objects, wait for breaks in their firing patterns, then rush out and clobber them with your spiked bat.

If all of your bats have broken by now, a handy sledgehammer sits near your starting position on the train, and there are plenty of other weapons to be had as well.

Make a slow, calculated advance up the train, dispatching each merc you encounter in turn. Don’t hesitate to retreat and consume restoratives if Chuck is gravely wounded—you’ll find lots of orange juice and other healing items aboard.

Secure the train, then examine the far door to at last approach the lead car. T.K. applauds Chuck’s heroics, but he isn’t about to get caught so easily.

He suddenly uncouples his car, then quickly opens fire on Chuck, forcing our hero to duck while the villain makes good his escape.

Chuck wasn’t able to stop T.K., but the effort wasn’t a total loss: He discovers a key that one of the goons must have dropped. Now you can access fortune City’s Underground from any service door, not just the one you used at Palisades Mall.
