Why brave the horrors of Fortune City alone when you can kill twice as much stuff with a friend? Dead Rising 2 features a fun co-op system that allows one player to join up with another at any time. Just choose “Co-op” from the main menu to join another player’s game.
To play co-op with another player, both players must have advanced far enough through the story to receive the transceiver from Stacy Forsythe at the Safe House.
This means you must simply complete the brief introductory segment in which Chuck competes in “Terror is Reality,” then ferries his daughter away from the arena and into the Safe House for the first time.
CONNECTING
Once a player has invited you to join their game, your transceiver will ring and the player’s name will appear next to it. Simply answer the transceiver to have that player join you as a co-op buddy.
While playing co-op, the “main” Chuck will be the only one to advance their story. The “buddy” Chuck will not advance their story, but they will retain all money and PP they acquire while assisting their pal.
Co-op is therefore a great way for two friends to share in the adventure and level up with less difficulty.
CO-OP ADVANTAGES
There are a few things to know about playing co-op. First, all PP you acquire through escorts and missions is doled out to both players. The PP is not halved; both players simply receive an equal share. Nice!
Second, co-op players can resuscitate one another. Should one Chuck fall in battle, a message is sent to the surviving player. Simply hand the fallen Chuck any food item to bring him back to life.
The reanimated player always rises with two units of health, unless the food item given would heal Chuck for an even greater amount.
The only limitation to playing with a buddy is that you must both be in close proximity to one another to move from one area of the city to another. Both players must also be nearby to initiate a Case File task as well.
Still, this isn’t much of a limitation when you consider the great advantages of having a second Chuck at your side!
