Dead Rising 2 Guide › Gameplay › Skills, Weapons, and Combos

Skill Moves

Now that you’ve digested your “Brain Food,” let’s move on to dessert. Here we expose the many manly skill moves Chuck learns as he levels up, along with the vast array of lethal weapons he’s able to wield, including all combo weapons Chuck constructs at maintenance rooms.

A complete list of combo cards and their locations is also provided to ensure you get the most out of each deadly device.

Struggling for survival brings out the best in Chuck. Though Fortune City’s foremost stuntman starts off green (pun intended, sorry), he soon develops a variety of combat-oriented skills that improve his odds of overcoming the endless ordeals he must face.

Like stats, Chuck’s skills unlock as he levels up—and similarly, you never know exactly when he’ll gain a new one.

One thing remains constant, however: Chuck’s skills always unlock in sequence, as detailed in the following table (The first skill Chuck will learn is the backdrop, and the last will be the Pick Up). By the time Chuck hits level 50 (the maximum), all skills will have unlocked.

A few of Chuck’s skills are passive, such as the DDT and backdrop — Chuck automatically employs these skill when breaking away from a zombie’s grasp, provided he escapes quickly.

The majority of skills require your input, however. Pause and review their individual button commands under the “Skills” portion of the Status menu.

CHUCK'S SKILLS

1. Backdrop : Chuck automatically slams zombies that have grabbed him from behind, killing them. Chuck must escape quickly to perform this move.

2. Jump Kick : A fast, jumping kick that knocks enemies away. Useful when no suitable weapons can be found.

3. DDT : Chuck automatically slams zombies that have grabbed him from the front, killing them. Chuck must escape quickly to perform this move.

4. Curbstomp : A heavy ground stomp. very useful against enemies that are down but not out.

5. Front Kick : A fast, frontal kick that knocks enemies away. Useful when no suitable weapons can be found.

6. Dodge Roll : A quick-diving somersault. Extremely useful, helping Chuck avoid attacks and close in on foes.

7. Double Leg Drop Kick : a powerful, diving kick with both legs. Knocks enemies away but leaves Chuck vulnerable while he regains his feet.

8. Foot Sweep : An area attack that knocks surrounding zombies away. Useful when being swarmed by undead.

9. Elbow Drop : A heavy, diving elbow strike to grounded enemies. Try it from great heights!

10. Haymaker : A slow but devastating punch that smashes zombies, knocking them back and killing them. As effective as any weapon, but the long wind up leaves Chuck vulnerable.

11. Field Goal : A mighty kick to a downed zombie’s head that sends it flying of in a shower of gore. Kiss that Curbstomp good-bye!

12. Smash : A forceful shove that knocks zombies away from Chuck, bouncing them of nearby objects. very efective and very deadly.

13. Hands Off : A special move that makes Chuck impossible for zombies to grab. Very useful when rushing through a teeming throng.

14. Power Bomb : A devastating finishing move initiated by standing near a downed zombie’s feet. Awesomely fatal.

15. Pick Up : Allows Chuck to lift zombies overhead, hurling them into objects or other zombies. As manly as it gets.
