You’ve loads of time before you must meet Rebecca at the Shoal Nightclub, so let’s see how much damage you can cause between now and then.
Swing by the High-Noon Shooting Range on the mall’s second floor, where a host of firearms is available for the taking.
Swipe two shotguns from the racks behind the counter, then head for the Severed Ties kiosk at the opposite end of the second floor, closer to your objective.
Hop on to the top of the Severed Ties kiosk to discover a third shotgun sitting atop the circular sign. With three shotguns and a number of Pain Killers in your inventory, you’re ready to fight a psycho.
Move to the nearby Kid’s Choice Clothing and examine the gruesome scene of a slumped, lifeless mascot surrounded by corpses. Examining the mascot triggers the Slappy fight.
Slappy is a tough psycho who travels quickly on roller skates. It’s pointless trying to keep up with Slappy, so fire arms become the ideal tools for the job.
The moment the showdown begins, immediately run away from Slappy, heading for Chris’s Fine Foods. It’s quite a hike, but Chris’s is the ideal place to battle Slappy because it’s stocked with nutritional num nums.
Slappy attacks by spewing out jets of fire from his twin flamethrowers— keep out of range to avoid being scorched. Slappy can also switch to a more dangerous fireball spitter that has a far greater range—run to one side to dodge each volley.
Whenever you’re not skirting Slappy’s attacks, unload on him with a shotgun. The best time to damage Slappy is directly after he launches a trio of fireballs.
Stand your ground in the hallway just outside of Chris’s Fine Foods and “joust” with Slappy, blasting away with your shotgun and then fleeing from the psycho’s fiery offense.
Retreat into Chris’s to consume food and gather more healing items. Milk, orange juice, pizza, and steak are among the best foods to grab, and there’s an unlimited supply of each inside the store.
Continue to avoid Slappy’s powerful flamethrower and fireball attacks, and pump the deranged mascot full of lead at every opportunity. Flee to heal as needed, then hurry back for more Slappy blasting. Keep it up until the psycho at last collapses.
SIDE MISSION: PAR FOR THE COURSE
With Slappy down for the count, set your guide arrow to the “Par for the Course” mission and take the Brand New U clothing shortcut back to Royal Flush Plaza. (Ignore the “Mail Order Zombrex” and “Here Comes the Groom” missions for the moment.)
Go to SporTrance to find a woman named Luz being accosted by zombies.
Lend Luz a hand by wiping out the undead hoard. Speak with Luz afterward to have her join you, then hurry her back to the Safe House.
SIDE MISSION: STUART’S SCHEME
If you rescued Stuart Holmes earlier in the game (during the “Worker’s Compensation” side mission), you’ll now find him standing near the Safe House’s restroom, all in a huff.
Speak with Stuart multiple times to get him to calm him down, thereby preventing a mutiny within the Safe House. You also pocket a tidy sum of PP for completing this easy task.
Save your game and build a couple of spiked bats on your way to the Yucatan Casino’s Shoal Nightclub—it’s time to tackle Case 4.
