Speak with Lenny in the cafeteria afterward to complete the “Legend of Charlie’s Gold” side mission, then save your progress and head back into the fray.
SIDE MISSION: HUNGER PAINS
Grab a brownie, cake, or any sort of solid food item(no beverages) from The Dark Bean on your way out of the Safe House, then slip through Americana Casino on your way to the Platinum Strip.
Follow your guide arrow to Dining at Davey’s, where you find a portly man named Richard who is simply starving. Rich won’t budge an inch without food; hand him whatever goodie you plucked from The Dark Bean to satisfy his craving and convince him to join you.
SIDE MISSION: TAPE IT OR DIE 1
With Richard following Chuck’s lead, run to the far north end of Silver Strip.
Enter Luaii Wauwii restaurant and collect some plates from the counter, then grab the cement saw that’s on the ground right outside the nearby maintenance room. (The one at the Silver Strip’s dead end.)
With plates and a cement saw in hand, lead Richard into Palisades Mall, taking the maintenance hall short cut through Hot Excitorama.
Visit KokoNutz Sports Town on the mall’s first floor and enter its back door, which is only unlocked between the hours of 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Day 3. Here Chuck encounters four survivors that he can’t persuade to join him.
Instead, one of the survivors, Wallace, asks Chuck to bring him some plates and a cement saw, which you’ve just acquired. Show these items to Wallace to obtain a secret combo card: the plate launcher!
SIDE MISSION: ART APPRECIATION
Since you’re already kickin’ it at the Palisades Mall, head upstairs andvisit The Cleroux Collection, a schmancy art shop where you meet avery upset man named Randolph.
Speak to the sobbing fellow and agree to buy his funny painting for $3,000—you should easily have this amount on hand. This cheers Randolph up immensely and convinces him to join you.
Make sure to collect the funny painting you’ve just paid for—it’s an ideal gift for Katey and this is the only time you can obtain it!
