Report for Duty at the Combat Simulator

Combat Crate Crash

Mission Giver: Alien Mechanic

Type: Destroy

Rewards: 50 Crystals / 100 Sparks

Wii Rewards: 50 Crystals / 50 Sparks

To get the next toy you need to smash five Combat Simulator supply crates. The first is right next to the Clothing Store.

The next one is below the floor pads that you have been assembling to expand the City. Drop down into the ravine and smash the crate below.

After breaking that crate, turn around and head in the opposite direction to find the third crate across several small gaps. Toss a ball at the crate to easily break it without any fancy jumping maneuvers.

The fourth is in a tricky spot on this lower level of the planet. Use the compass to locate the hidden crate that is close by a stream.

The last crate is just around the corner from number four in an alcove at the base of the stream.

Mission Giver: Slinky Dog

Type: Destroy

Rewards: 25 Crystals / 100 Sparks

After buying the Combat Simulator in the Toy Store, speak to Slinky Dog to begin your combat training. Run over to the newly built simulator and use the teleporter to warp into the depths of the building to begin the fun.

Once inside the installation, you want to take the lift down to the ready room to begin the simulations. However, there are a few items to grab before you begin your training. To the right, on top of a stack of crates, is the Buzz Lightyear Chest. On the opposite side to the left is a green capsule high in the air. To reach this prize, you need to leap onto the stacks of crates and make a long double jump to get the Toy Story Space Track Set Toy Pack 3.

Star Command Blaster Qualification

Mission Giver: Zurg Hologram

Type: Combat

Rewards: 100 Crystals / 250 Sparks

Wii Rewards: 250 Crystals / 100 Sparks

Talk to the Zurg Hologram to activate the first training area behind him and use the teleporter to warp to the new map.

The initial training session is all about aiming. Initially three Zurgbot targets will appear across from you and all you need to do is hit them with a fast ball.

Follow the path ahead and use a shoulder charge to smash through a set of breakable light blue crates.

The route will lead along an inclined ramp and a barrier will prevent you from proceeding until you hit the three moving Zurgbot targets. Take time to zoom in on each and toss the ball to hit the targets.

The next test is designed to teach you how to aim above you. There are two Zurgbot targets on each side and they are easy to hit if you stop, zoom in, and take your time to aim.

Continue to the final area where you need to hit any of the five targets. There is no danger or time limit to complete this task, which makes this a great chance to practice your aiming skills.

When all five targets have been hit, go across to their location to smash some orange crates. Pick up the red capsule with the Star Cadet Helmet 2 and finally use the warp pad to go back to the briefing room.

New Toy Unlocked: Star Command Blaster

New Challenge Available: Blast Away

Simulation 1: No Chance

Mission Giver: Zurg Hologram

Type: Combat

Rewards: 500 Crystals / 500 Sparks

Wii Rewards: 500 Crystals / 500 Sparks

It is very satisfying to unload the blaster on the Zurgbots, but don’t get overzealous. Keep your distance and use the gun’s superior range to take out the enemies from as far away as you can.

When the first group is dispatched, go down to the ramp to the right and wipe out all the Zurgbots in order to get to the large IN button that will activate a bridge. Be on the lookout in this area for a red capsule with the Star Cadet Outfit 2 behind some blue crates.

The large IN switch will create a new route, so backtrack to the location of this new route. Of course, as soon the bridge has been activated more Zurgbots will attack.

Enter the large rectangle section, and if you don’t keep your distance be prepared to get rushed by Zurgbots. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as you can use a ground pound attack to hit several at one time if they surround you.

Head up the next ramp to encounter red Zurgbots that have dual blasters. Keep an eye on your green shield bar below your character and hide behind the heavy gray crates if you need to recharge your shields. The best tactic to deal with this type of robot is to shoot and dodge.

Behind this robot duo is a rail you can use to go to the next section, but turn to the right and take out a big group of firing Zurgbots to get to the green capsule with Toy Story Decorations Toy Pack 3 all the way in the back.

Return to the rail and jump on it to perform a rail slide. While grinding on this rail you cannot only jump straight up, but you can even leap from one rail to another.

At the bottom of the rail, step on the large IN button to rotate a platform into place.

Cross this platform and waste a few Zurgbots to allow you access to a blue rope that will take you to the top of this structure.

Follow this topside path in an L shape. Along the way, collect the red capsule with a Mechanic Outfit next to a Zurgbot firing from a hovering platform.

Continue to the next section to wipe out the mace-wielding Zurgbots from a distance while behind the safety of gray crates. The goal is to destroy the blue Zurgbots while avoiding fire from the red one in the back of the area. When all of the robots are reduced to junk, the barrier will drop, allowing access to the final section.

To complete this simulation you need to take down twelve Zurgbots; luckily they are released in waves and don’t all attack at once. Initially there only will be blue Zurgbots, which can be shot from a distance or tackled with a shoulder charge or ground pound.

However, the last wave includes two red Zurgbots in the back of the area. Keep out of range of their blaster attacks until you can wipe out all the blue ones. When the red Zurgbots are all that remains, close in on them to shoot while dodging side to side.

When the coast is clear, search behind one of the large Zurgbot elevators to find a red capsule with the Mechanic Hat and use the warp pad to return to the ready room.

Simulation 2: If You Dare

Mission Giver: Zurg Hologram

Type: Combat

Rewards: 50 Crystals / 500 Sparks

Wii Rewards: 500 Crystals / 500 Sparks

There is a new enemy to contend with right from the start. The new foe is a mini blue Zurgbot, which is faster and generally appears in larger groups. Although they might be more numerous than their big brothers, they are weaker, which makes them a great target for the ground pound attack.

Follow the path past a lone red Zurgbot in a tunnel and prepare for a slew of tiny robots to attack in the next section. Don’t rush in. Just stay back and keep firing until they have all run into your blaster fire. When they are all gone, follow the path to the rail and look for a red capsule with the Space Suit Blaster behind some crates.

Go for a short rail slide and shoot up the crates in front of you to reveal an ambushing Zurgbot and a IN switch you need to activate.

Continue past the extended blue bridge and wipe out all the Mini Zurgbots and the duo of red Zurgbots on floating platforms to lower the barrier in this section. Also, be sure to collect the red capsule with a Space Suit Outfit in this section.

Rail slide through a series of rings and tunnels to get to the next area filled with little and big blue Zurgbots. Destroy the robots and make a quick detour to the right to get the red capsule with a Space Suit Helmet. To get to the next section, step on the IN button to lower the raised walkway.

This next area will be pretty rough as it is filled with four firing Zurgbots as well as the mini blue ones. Keep your distance from the red ones while you pick apart the small robots with blaster fire. To bring down the firing foe, use the gray crates for cover, peek out to fire a few shots, and then dodge back to safety.

To finish this level, there are eight more Zurgbots to destroy. As soon as you go past the raised barrier and enter the small tunnel several robots will arrive from below. Backtrack a bit to get some distance from the blue Zurgbots and fire like mad to take them all out. Before you hop on the teleporter make sure to grab the green capsule next to it that has the Toy Story Decorations Toy Pack 2.

Simulation 3: Inevitable Destruction

Mission Giver: Zurg Hologram

Type: Combat

Rewards: 500 Crystals / 500 Sparks

Wii Rewards: 1,000 Crystals / 500 Sparks

The new addition to this stage is small red Zurgbots that can fire just like their bigger models. Step into the first section and instead of staying back, charge in and attack with shoulder charge and ground pound attacks. It’s not worth keeping your distance when the enemy’s weapons significantly outnumber yours. Destroying all the robots will drop the barrier next to a red capsule that has Mechanic Tools.

The next section is going to be tough due to numerous red Zurgbots firing upon you from floating platforms. Eliminate as many threats in the open area as you can and switch your focus to wiping out the shooting Zurgbots. If you end up taking too much damage in the center of this section retreat until your shields have regenerated.

Climb the blue rope to the top tier and continue down the path to face an onslaught of mini red Zurgbots and their bigger brothers. It is going to be really hard to dodge all the incoming blaster fire, but avoid the temptation of running in and getting surrounded by gunfire. In the next small section straight ahead, there is a red capsule with the Army Wall textures hiding behind some gray crates.

Hop on the nearby rail to slide down and make sure to shoot the Zurgbot waiting for you at the platform. Rail slide down again while continually shooting to hit the pair of red Zurgbots on the bottom.

In the next section, an ambush of mini firing robots and big blue ones will attack. Shoot like crazy to destroy them or use the shoulder charge to knock some of them over the edge.

After the battle, step on the IN switch to lower the walkway above you. Run straight ahead to the next area and look behind the gray crates to find the Toy Story Space Track Set Toy Pack 4 in a green capsule.

The adjacent area is full of red and blue Zurgbots. Hold your ground and fire away from this spot instead of charging in. Make sure to hit the two red robots on the floating platforms as soon as you get a break in the action.

Step on another IN switch to extend a winding rail and hop on for a ride.

The rail ends at a big battle area with a barrier that requires all robots to be destroyed. Keep a safe distance and shoot all the robots you can before closing in to take out the pair of red ones on floating platforms.

The final area is just ahead, and you must defeat twelve Zurgbots. Use the crates for cover as much as possible while shooting as many enemies as you can. As the number of enemies thins, charge towards the red Zurgbots on one side and take them out fast to avoid getting caught in crossfire.
