Fort St. Grande

It’s at Fort St. Grande!

  • Mission Giver: Tia Dalma
  • Type: Locate
  • Rewards: 200 Coins / 100 Sparks

This mission will be completed when you get close to Fort St. Grande.

Send Them to the Depths!

  • Mission Giver: Mr. Gibbs
  • Type: Combat
  • Reward: 500 Coins

Other ships are already circling Fort St. Grande and they happen to be Navy ships. If you can destroy them you can salvage the pieces to make your boat look like one from the Royal Navy. There are two waves of ships to destroy and it’s best to keep moving to avoid taking too much damage in each wave. Wipe out the first wave of three ships and prepare for the next battle.

Wave two has only one ship to deal with, but it has a lot of Broadside Cannons.

Goin’ in Under Cover

  • Mission Giver: Crew (Big hair)
  • Type: Customize
  • Rewards: 200 Coins / 100 Sparks

To sneak into Fort St. Grande and infiltrate it, make your boat look like a Royal Navy vessel by customizing it from the ship menu and selecting the Royal Naval Theme Pack. Dock at the fort under cover and disembark to complete the mission.

We Be in the Navy Now

  • Mission Giver: Pirates (automatic)
  • Type: Locate/Combat
  • Rewards: 200 Coins / 100 Sparks

When you set foot on land, a mission will automatically appear to get to the top of the fort. Even though your ship is camouflaged, your character is not. It is probably a good idea to avoid the naval townspeople and go around the ledges to the left.

Take the long way around to the fort by following the outside perimeter close to the city wall and climbing up a rickety-looking ladder.

Continue the journey to the top of the fort, climbing another ladder. Davy Jones’ crew will assault the city. Jump up on some crates and climb a ladder up the side of a small tower to reach a ledge at the top of the fort.

Defend the Fort!

  • Mission Giver: Pirates (automatic)
  • Type: Combat
  • Reward: 100 Sparks
  • Wii Rewards: 500 Coins / 100 Sparks

At the top of the fort, Davy Jones’ men will greet you with swords. There is a new enemy with extra armor along with a pair of swordsmen. Try to knock the swordsmen off the ledge you are on or wipe them out quickly to deal with the new enemy that is the real threat. This new oyster-looking foe has a very long sword that adds to its range when using its leaping attack. Don’t take any chances with this tough enemy—simply block and wait for it to attack, then counterattack with a three-hit combo.

Go inside the fort tower and leap up the wooden support beams and binding rope to make it to the top next to an IN button.

Hit the button to open the gate and continue your ascension, climbing a wooden structure to reach the very top of the fort.

Waiting for you on the top of the fort is Maccus, the one who stole the map back in Buccaneer Bay. Block and wait for Maccus to stop attacking—Maccus can strike three times in a row—before you counterstrike with a two-hit combo of your own.

Maccus’ other attack is a rolling move that ends with the hammerhead leaping out at the end. If you can dodge this move, Maccus is very vulnerable to strikes on his back while he is stunned.

Second Piece O’ the Kraken’s Bane

  • Mission Giver: Tia Dalma (automatic)
  • Type: Combat
  • Rewards: 2,000 Coins / 250 Sparks

Make your way back down using the rail slide technique several times and confront Maccus once again. He won’t do the rolling attack here, but he has a new trick that consists of shooting you at close range. Block this attack as well as his sword swipes and resort to countering.

After taking enough damage, you can make a break for the ladder nearby and finally find the chest with the second piece of the Kraken’s Bane. At the end of the mission is another ship upgrade that is a great buy for making travel quicker on the open seas.

New Toy Unlocked: Speed Burst

As soon as you set sail from Fort St. Grande, expect the Royal Navy to engage you in ship-to-ship combat. There are only a few ships to deal with, and if you’d rather not fight use the Speed Burst to run away.

New Challenges Available:Gatherin’ Grande and Rally on the Fort

Side Mission

Fightin’ Fish for the Fort

  • Mission Giver: Generic Pirate man and woman - Automatic after returning to the fort after getting the Kraken pieces from Dead Man’s Cove and Shipwreck Shoals
  • Type: Combat
  • Reward: 500 Coins / 50 Sparks

Head up to the top tier of the fort to battle Davy Jones’s crew. There are a lot of fishmen to deal with and it is a good idea to block to prevent being overwhelmed. Wipe them out one at a time to even the odds.
