Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness eGuide Part III: Main Story Walkthrough Chapter 8

Mission: Tying Up Loose Ends

Daril’s death isn’t enough for Der-Suul. His arrogance combined with his ruthlessness means that he’ll eventually open himself up for reprisal, which Fidel will gladly deliver.

Action Checklist

  1. Destroy Der-Suul
  2. Optional: Obtain missable role through Private Actions
  3. Optional: View Private Actions in various cities
  4. Trek to the Royal Institute of Signetary Studies in Santeroule
  5. Get to the Ancient Institute

Mission Walkthrough

Before you can continue your primary mission of reaching Santeroule, you’ll have to defeat the arrogant Trei’kuran military commander, Der-Suul. Then, you can make your way back to Santeroule to begin the expunction process on Relia.

Avenge Daril

The story continues with Miki consoling Fidel over his tragic loss. However, there’s another incoming attack on the Resulian encampment. Looks like Der-Suul is back, doubling down on his efforts to retake the once Trei’kuran outpost. Make your way out of The Moonlit Tabby to exact revenge. Once outside, cut through the Trei’kurans here, and then meet with Der-Suul in the northern area for a final face-off with Daril’s murderer.

Der-Suul

As usual, start by annihilating Der-Suul’s henchmen, and then focus your attacks on Der-Suul. Over the battle, more Trei’kuran Soldiers will flood the area, so make sure to stay on top of eliminating them. Occasionally, Der-Suul switches targets. If you see him run toward Miki, take control of her to get her away from the ruthless leader. He’s an adept signeturge, so watch out for his high-damage AoE spells, as well, keeping your party members separated.

When Der-Suul is low on health, he’ll gain access to a new devastating attack called Spicule. This is a high-damage AoE attack that can instantly kill anyone around him. Keep Miki, Fiore, and Emmerson positioned well away from Der-Suul at all times to prevent as much destruction as possible. With Miki’s Faerie Light spell, you should be able to heal up your party accordingly.

If you’ve built up enough reserve gauge, unleash your strongest Reserve Rush gauge combo on Der-Suul to finish off the ruthless villain.

After defeating Der-Suul, Victor gives Fidel Daril’s sword, Insignivon.

When you’re back in control of Fidel, equip the sword. Then, meet up with the rest of the crew to the east of the area, as marked on the map. With Der-Suul out of the way and Fidel’s father avenged, you can now make way to your original destination—Santeroule.

You can stop by Sthal, Myiddok, and Central Resulia before returning to Santeroule if you want to view a few more missable Private Actions with Relia (none of which unlocks roles, however). Otherwise, trek all the way back to Santeroule, completing any side objectives you might have undertaken. On your way there, Emmerson receives a transmission with a warning that Kronos ships are en route to their destination, so they need to hurry.

Once you’re in Santeroule, enter the Royal Institute of Signetary Studies. Inside, Ceisus informs the party that the expunction device there isn’t functioning, so you’ll have to use the original one in the Ancient Institute. If you have the Lock Picking specialty, you can open the locked chest in Ceisus’ office for a copy of Cerulean Orb Signets, Vol. 2.

Now, leave Santeroule from the north gate, into North of the Eastern Eihieds. Oddly enough, there are no enemies in the area.

Continue north to the Ancient Institute. On your way there, a cutscene triggers where you’ll meet General Alma, the Kronos mastermind behind the dastardly plots.

You find out that the Relia you have is actually Feria, Relia’s twin sister. To make matters worse, the Kronos Soldiers were able to abduct her with the help of a neutralization device.

To get the twins back, the party must wait for the federation to send Emmerson’s new ship. Furthermore, if the Faykreedians decide to take part in the intergalactic rescue mission, they may never come back to their home planet. The party disbands in the meantime to contemplate their futures.
