Mission Walkthrough
Once you enter Myiddok, you can tackle several optional tasks. Your objectives here are to gear up, learn the ways of invention, and get a good night’s sleep in preparation for the rest of your voyage to the Resulian capital city.
Myiddok Merchandise
Toward the east side of town, there’s a weapons merchant shop with some upgrades if you have the cash to spend (which you should if you’ve been slaying most of the enemies you’ve encountered). If you can afford it, go ahead and buy the upgrades for all of your characters; Fidel and Victor’s weapons are particularly useful.
WELCH: The Beautiful and Genius Inventor, Part I
Just south of The Steel Serpent, there’s a door to Welch’s Laboratory. It’s highly recommended that you visit the flamboyant inventor because she gives you important quests that unlock various specialty skills. After her introduction, you receive a tutorial on quests.
Welch’s first quest, If It Tastes like Blueberries, It Must Be Good for You, only requires you to hand over five Blueberries. If you have them on you, go ahead and give them away. Otherwise, you can head to the general goods shop in town to purchase them. After Welch thanks you for your services, another tutorial regarding item creation is shown. You can now learn the Compounding skill by spending SP within the Specialties Skills menu.
If you leave the laboratory and return, Welch will have another quest lined up for you, Drunk on Creation. However, you’ll need a Lemon and a bottle of Spring Water, which you probably don’t have yet. Go over to the local grocer at the west end of Myiddok (called Sweet Jiminy!) to buy a bottle of Spring Water. On the way back to Welch’s Laboratory, you can pick up Fresh Vegetables x 2, Tomato x 2, and Lemon x 2 from a chest near the dock south of the bridge. Now that you have both required quest items, take them to Welch to unlock the Cooking and Fishing specialties.
Again, leave the laboratory and re-enter to queue up another crafting-related quest. This time, Welch needs three pieces of Iron and five Wooden Sticks. During your travel from Sthal, you may have collected enough Iron (hopefully, you plundered the chest containing Iron x 3 in the Passage on the Cliffs). If so, you can buy the Wooden Sticks required from the material vendor just west of the central bridge in Myiddok. Return to Welch to complete Brute Strength of Blacksmithing. This unlocks the Excavation and Smithery specialty skills. If you have enough SP and want to collect resources while you’re out adventuring, consider investing into Excavation and Fishing so that you have access to all resource nodes.
That’s all for her quest line for now. She won’t give you more quests until later on as you progress through the story, so remember to come back!
Rest Up, and Meet Lady Brunelli
After all of your item-fetching for the eccentric inventor, you can rest up at the inn (for free!). On your way into the inn, you’ll bump into a rather interesting-looking woman. Nevertheless, go ahead and enter the inn. Talk to the innkeeper for a good night’s rest in preparation for the trek to Central Resulia.
In the morning, Miki gives Fidel a rude (and endearing) awakening while Victor waits near the western gate of Myiddok.
Head west and meet up with Victor, where you’ll notice an extravagantly dressed woman. Victor introduces her as Fiore Brunelli, a signeturge from Langdauq’s capital city of Santeroule. Evidently, Victor’s primary mission was to escort the lady to Central Resulia. With Fiore joining the party, you can now exit to the Resulian Plains via the western gate.
