Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness eGuide Part III: Main Story Walkthrough Chapter 12

Multiple Endings

Ending Conditions Explained

Similar to the affinity check before the final mission, an ending between Fidel and one other party member is played after Emmerson’s exposition monologue and end credits.

The conditions and resulting endings are as follows:

1. Miki, Victor, Fiore, Emmerson, or Anne will appear in a cutscene with Fidel after the captain’s log monologue. Out of these characters, the one with the highest affinity with Fidel is chosen.

2. If two characters tie for the highest amount of affinity with Fidel, the game will prioritize characters in the following order: Miki > Fiore > Anne > Victor > Emmerson.

3. After that cutscene is finished, it’s possible for an additional cutscene involving Relia to play out. This is unlocked if Fidel’s affinity with her is high enough, which can be attained by triggering most of her Private Actions (or giving her heavy doses of Love Potion No. 256).

3b. Miki will show up in Relia’s additional cutscene if her cutscene was unlocked in Step 2. Otherwise, the cutscene will only involve Fidel and Relia.

Affinity Manipulation

There are a few ways to manipulate affinity. The easiest method is to craft flasks of Emotional Destabilizer or Love Potion No. 256. When used, Emotional Destabilizer decreases a character’s affinity with Fidel. Therefore, if you lower a party member’s affinity enough while raising another’s, you can manipulate which ending is played at the end of the game.

To create Emotional Destabilizers, you’ll need to have the Compounding specialty skill leveled. You can easily buy the ingredients for these potions or find them throughout the game. Lavender is a common usable item found in most consumable shops, Empty Bottles are found in most alchemy shops, and Demon’s Tails are purchasable if you’ve unlocked Ruddle’s Central Resulian shop through his quest line.

Crafting Love Potion No. 256 is a different matter and requires much more effort. To create it, you’ll need Lavender, Shadow Roses, and a rare synthesis item, Lezard’s Flask. Shadow Roses can be found off of Welwitschia plant enemies, and Lezard’s Flask is created by synthesizing a medicine-type item with an added 50 Impurities factor. This is much more difficult than it sounds, especially since synthesis results are random. However, you can find several flasks of Love Potion No. 256 spread throughout chests in the game, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to get the ending you want if you’ve followed this guide and opened all possible chests.

An alternative way to raise or lower affinity is by triggering Private Actions. Generally, viewing a character’s Private Action raises affinity among everyone involved. Skipping certain characters’ Private Actions or responding negatively when given a choice during specific Private Actions can lower Fidel’s affinity with said party member. For instance, if you really want to see Fiore’s ending with Fidel without having to feed your party members potions, simply view all of her Private Actions while ignoring everyone else’s throughout your playthrough.
