Halo Wars 2 eGuide Multiplayer Multiplayer Atlas

Vault

Lush woodlands conceal an immense Forerunner storage facility.

Tips

The center of the map features a large Forerunner structure flanked by a mix of deep rivers and clustered trees. While these natural obstacles hinder the mobility of your ground forces, they also limit enemy access to your base.

Early in a match, consider assigning some core infantry units to any garrison structures near your main base. These help you spot incoming scouts or raiding parties. A squad of Marines or Grunts isn’t likely to stop encroaching forces, but it might give you enough time to prepare yourself—especially if the invaders stop to engage your garrisoned units. As you begin to produce advanced units, consider moving Snipers or Elite Rangers into key locations.

Depending on the game mode, the central structure holds a Control Point, a Resource Node, or a Stronghold. If you intend to claim this location, it’s best to do so as early as possible. Outside of Strongholds matches, you find a good amount of resource pickups on (and around) this structure. An early push toward the center of the map can give your economy a significant boost.

Every Vault map variant has at type of building site on either side of the Forerunner structure. If you opt to make an early push to the center of the map, use whatever resources you collect to develop a base (or minibase) on at least one of these sites. Produce a few extra scouts or infantry units, then send them out to gather resources or capture nearby Resource Nodes.

The Forerunner structure may be Vault’s predominant feature, but during a match of Domination or Deathmatch, valuable resources and building slots are peppered around the edge of the map. During 3v3 matches, coordinate with your team to make sure these key items are put to good use.
