Halo Wars 2 eGuide Multiplayer Multiplayer Atlas

Rift

The battles fought at this Forerunner array will echo through history.

Tips

This map features a large number of cliffs, ledges, platforms, and garrison structures. Utilizing (and overcoming) terrain advantages and disadvantages goes a long way toward ensuring your victory. Many of the map’s strategically important areas are located near cliffs or platforms—a few well-placed artillery units can make it difficult for either side to hold key locations.

In Domination and Deathmatch, two of the available Resource Nodes are positioned on raised platforms. Capture at least one of these early on. With this terrain advantage, even a small group of infantry can deter your opponent from attempting to seize this valuable resource.

Whether you’re fighting for Control Points, Resource Nodes, or Strongholds, the platform in the center of the map holds something of value. More importantly, the ring that runs around it serves as the fastest route between team starting areas. Claim it early, and station long-range infantry units in the surrounding garrison structures.

Rift is also one of the few maps to offer sites for Two-Slot Minibases. These sites only appear in 3v3 games of Deathmatch and Domination, and they’re more remote than the One-Slot Minibase building sites found in each team’s starting area, but they’re great for supporting expansion early in a match.
