Captain Cook is in Percé. Look for him on the town docks, and search the area afterward if you haven’t been back to Percé in a long time. There are a few things unlocked here that weren’t available before. Perform that Renovation, if nothing else!
Sail to the Fort on Anticosti
Take the Morrigan to Anticosti, to the north. Though the town’s harbor is almost always guarded by hostile ships, you don’t have to fight them to get past. Sail in from the south and keep on the western side of the sea as you approach. You’ll avoid the watchful eyes of the ships in the harbor and still get to land around the rear of the fort, as directed.
Find the Leader of the Outlaws and Steal de la Verendrye’s Maps
Optional: Avoid open conflict
You may want to be more subtle this time. Disembark and swim to the beach. There’s no one around, so you don’t have to move slowly. Use fallen trees to reach the cliffs that rise over the beach; climb those trees as high as you can to get to the main ledge. The path from here goes into town, though it’s a roundabout route that keeps you out of patrols and trouble.
When you reach the main walls, use the bricks to climb up and shimmy toward a ledge to the right. Pull yourself up and use that ledge to get around to the front of the town. There doesn’t seem to be a way in, but look for old wooden boards above your position. Use those to get over the wall!
You have to avoid open fighting, but you’re still allowed to kill as long as you aren’t seen. Use a Sleep Dart on the gunner below your position. Jump down to his tower and kill him once he’s napping, and then use another Sleep Dart against the guard in the next tower. Run across the hemp line that stretches over to that tower, and kill him too.
Now wait for the leader to patrol closer to your area. He has the map and appears as a yellow target in Eagle Vision. Use a Berserk Dart on him. He’ll take out a patroller or two and will eventually die. That’s perfect, because he won’t be able to walk over to the more heavily defended area at the front of town. You just need to clear any guards that are close to his body.
When the coast is clear, approach the corpse and loot the maps. Now you have to return to your ship without getting into trouble.
Return to the Morrigan
Optional: Do not kill any guards
Combat is now perfectly fine, but killing isn’t. Put on the speed and climb onto the larger building on the northern side of town. That gives you access to the watchtowers, and from those you can get back up the main wall. If you didn’t kill the snipers, then they’ll be in your way, but that’s fine. You can either sprint around them and use Smoke Bombs to avoid some of their shots, or you can use Sleep Darts to put them down without killing them. More daring players can switch to their fists and knock out the gunners without doing any permanent damage to them.
Those are the only two men to beat. Everyone else is below and won’t get in your way. Climb to the top of the main wall and walk to the corner of the highest ledge. It’s safe to leap from there down to the water. Thankfully it’s not a very long swim to the Morrigan, as your ship is taking damage and needs its captain back.
Climb onto the ship and man the wheel immediately. Catch the wind and sail away from the town as nimbly as you can. Don’t stop to fight anyone, and the memory ends as soon as you reach open sea and become anonymous again.
Fast Travel to Terra Nova, on the eastern side of the North Atlantic. Your next waypoint is out on the water, not far from that harbor.
