Assassin's Creed Rogue eGuide Walkthrough Sequence 02

Memory 01: One Little Memory

The meeting goes well, and you receive useful blueprints for the Morrigan. You’re going to get a nice new weapon called the Puckle gun. Nothing is as useful for hitting vessels’ weak points or spraying the decks to eliminate troops.

Search for items or do some carousing in town, and then set sail to look for Samuel Smith and the Equitas. You won’t have to sail for long. Use your spyglass on all of the British ships you approach, and find the named schooner.

Smith attempts to escape. Use your ship to give chase, and try out the Puckle gun on any mines he drops in your way. The new Ram upgrades prove useful as well, because you have to break through sheets of ice to continue the pursuit. Go as quickly as you can to keep up with Smith, and be ready for more trouble.

Sink the Enemy Ships

Optional: Destroy three gunboats with the Puckle gun

Smith isn’t a fool, and he’s led you into an ambush. Smaller gunboats and a heavier brig come forward to fight. You’re likely to be rammed if you aren’t careful, and you’ll lose plenty of sailors if you’re boarded. Sail forward quickly and keep your speed high to prevent the other vessels from having a clean run.

If you’re rammed despite these efforts, defend yourself aggressively and get what you can from the brig after you defeat its sailors. The salvage won’t be bad, and there is an achievement/trophy for repelling a boarding party.

With the larger vessel down, switch to your Puckle gun to eliminate the smaller ships. You can attack their hulls or sails for fast and easy kills. Collect everything that falls into the water to earn some profit off of all this, and this resume your pursuit of the Equitas.

Smith goes for land, and he’ll drop plenty of flaming oil in your path. Navigate carefully toward the harbor he’s seeking, and don’t let the Morrigan get torched!

Dock in Terra Nova’s harbor. You’ll have to do this the hard way.

Assassinate Smith

Optional: Kill Smith with an air assassination

If you don’t want to fight an entire legion of British troops, then get onto the docks and jump from the small structure there over to the cliff on the mainland. This lets you avoid a very large battle and maintain a level of stealth.

Climb a fallen tree up to the guard tower on your left, dispatch its guard, and then use the upper branches of trees in the forest to get over to Smith. Kill him instantly with an aerial assassination.

Bolder or more aggressive fighters can charge onto the mainland directly. Go after the enemies and watch for their ranged buddies; grab melee targets as human shields if any of their friends try to shoot at you. You avoid the damage and get a free kill out of the deal.

Even if you like the direct route, it is still suggested that you take to the trees after the fight. Your optional objective demands an aerial kill, and that’s what you should provide.

You get access to burning oil after this event ends.

You also get access to Fast Travel once you return to your ship.

And speaking of Fast Travel, you should try it out. Go to your map and Fast Travel over to the River Valley waypoint. Your next mission is on that map. The Fast Travel point gets you close, and then you can change maps with only a moment of travel.

You also gain the ability to switch maps directly. When you’re looking at the big map, zoom over to the edge of the territory and keep going. This shows you a greater view of North America. You can Fast Travel directly over regions to save time.

Once you’re in River Valley, go toward Albany, as marked on your map. There are a few treats along the way if you’re willing to stop. You should always go after Viewpoints because they’re useful to have. The lighthouse on the way up the channel has one such Viewpoint, but you can decide whether it’s worth your time.
