Assassin's Creed Rogue eGuide Extra Background Information

Locations of New York

New York was a bustling city even in the 1700s. It had already been settled for some time. During the course of the game, there’s plenty to explore and discover in the old streets of this great town.

Fort Arsenal

After his falling out with the Assassin Brotherhood, Shay Cormac seized control of Fort Arsenal and used it for his personal headquarters. There, Shay could change outfits, access his cache of weapons, manage his fleet, admire his collection of treasures, and deal with his finances.

City Hall

The building was built in 1700 and began its function as New York’s city hall in 1702. It housed the city jail until 1759.

It did not become famous until the American Revolution, when delegates from nine of the thirteen colonies met to organize a protest against the British Stamp Act.

Fighting Cocks Tavern

This tavern is best known as the starting point for the Great Fire of New York that destroyed 25% of the city in 1776.

Trinity Church

Trinity Church was constructed in 1698, and the pirate captain William Kidd lent equipment from his ship to help hoist the stones. In 1709 it created a charity school for itself. The school moved into its own building in 1749 and King’s College, now known as Columbia University, was founded in that building’s first floor.

The church was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1776, which started in the Fighting Cocks Tavern.

St. George’s Chapel

St. George’s Chapel was built in 1752 by Trinity Church. The exterior was designed by Charles Otto Blesch and the interior by Leopold Eidlitz.

Hope’s Mansion

As an Assassin and leader of New York’s underworld, Hope Jensen used a mansion that was deadly and extravagant. Knowing it was a matter of “when” and not “if” she would be attacked, she had several traps built into the mansion to deal with intruders.
