Assassin's Creed Rogue Guide › Walkthrough › Sequence 03

Memory 04: Keep Your Friends Close

Monro sends you on a mission to deal with the American dignitary and inventor you met before. The man is staying in a nearby building, with legions of defenders around it.

Get to Benjamin Franklin’s House

For wonderful weapons practice, charge directly from Monro’s area over to the marked house. You have to contend with assassins, a shooter on the roof, and plenty of ground targets. It’s absolute madness.

If you have more time on your hands and want a safer approach, go all the way around the restricted area and climb onto the roofs. Assassinate the gunner up there or simply put him to sleep, and sneak down into the house so that you won’t have to fight everyone outside.

Both routes are fun, so it’s your call.

Destroy the Shed Doors and Then Sabotage the Poison Supplies

Optional: Kill three guards with a single grenade

Optional: Put ten guards to sleep

Monro gives you a powerful weapon to help with the next stage of the mission. You’re going after a well-defended cache of poison, and single-target weapons aren’t going to be enough for this assault. Now you get a grenade launcher.

The Grenade Launcher

Darts are already a great tool, but sometimes you have to use something with more kick. You now gain a grenade launcher that is an ideal high-profile weapon. It has Sleep Grenades to silence groups of foes for a short time, Berserk Grenades to cause maximum distractions, and Shrapnel Grenades to outright kill your opponents.

Don’t try to use the grenade launcher as a reactive weapon; it’s not as agile as the pistols, so you have a hard time acquiring targets and need a few seconds to aim. These are more effective weapons when you’re not in the heat of battle. Stay on rooftops and aim for groups of guards that are holding choke points. Take them down in a single shot and feel good about doing it.

To make sure the grenade launcher works, use a Shrapnel Grenade to blow open the doors to the nearby shed. The proof of concept is impressive! Then loot the crates around the yard and go over to the compound where the poison is being held.

There are multiple gunners on the rooftops. You’re better off if you climb up to kill them before starting your earnest attack. If any of the gunners see you coming, use a Sleep Dart on them to buy time. It’s worthwhile to avoid any alarms. Although it takes longer, using Berserk Darts against the gunners works great too—the gunners happily shoot your enemies for you, making the rest of the run even easier after you wait for the affected gunner to succumb to the poison and die.

You have only three Sleep Grenades, so putting 10 guards to sleep might seem difficult; however, nobody asked you to put them to sleep with just Sleep Grenades. You can use Sleep Darts on solo patrollers, and then switch to Sleep Grenades for the small clusters of people around the yard.

There are also boxes of grenades all over the place. Restock whenever you need to, and don’t worry about your Shrapnel Grenade optional objective yet. Get the sleeping portion of it done, and then go after the three vats of poison that are lying around the yard. Destroy each one by walking up and interacting with it. Run away to avoid the local explosion, and continue to the next vat. If you’ve already put everyone to sleep and then executed them, there won’t be many defenders to stop you from advancing.

After you destroy the third vat, hurry out of the yard and run back to the main street. A large group of guards attempts to block your way, taking a defensive stance to ensure that you won’t run right through them. That is your best possible moment to use the Shrapnel Grenades. Blow the group apart and leave the compound before everything gets gassed.

If you miss that opportunity, there is another easy way to get three guards with one Shrapnel Grenade; run through several enemies and get them to chase you. Use a Smoke Bomb when they converge on Shay’s location. Back off while the enemies are coughing, and use the Shrapnel Grenade on them before they recover.

Escape from the area now that you’re done with the objectives. You complete the third memory sequence and earn the “Making New Friends” achievement/trophy as this completes.

Memory Sequence 04 begins in Marais Rocheux, in the center of River Valley.
