Back at the Homestead, Shay has work to do. You still can’t explore or do side activities, so proceed on your only possible course of action. There are secrets to reveal.
Infiltrate Davenport Manor
Stay quiet and use cover to approach the manor. There are other guards around the area, and they’re very alert. Wait in a bush anytime you see movement, and don’t leave your hidden area until the coast is clear.
Move from cover to cover in this way, and climb up the side of the house. Cross the roof and drop onto a balcony on the far side of the manor. Go inside there, and use Eagle Vision to look for the information you need. You won’t have to worry about patrollers inside the building.
There is a desk on the second floor (only a room and a hall away from where you just entered) that has the info. Walk over to it and interact with the desk. This triggers a cutscene.
Escape the Homestead
Optional: Do not take any damage
Optional: Do not kill anyone
Things are a bit more dangerous on your way out. It’s quite tough to get through the next scene without taking damage or killing anyone, but it’s doable if you’re really careful and follow the correct path.
Run straight forward when the cutscene ends. Avoid the colored circles on the ground—they’re mortar fire that can do heavy damage to Shay; otherwise, keep to a very fast and direct path. Sprint the entire way, because hiding isn’t that helpful at the moment. Being seen won’t hurt your optional goals.
Your way is blocked when you get lower on the hill. Turn right and keep sprinting. Don’t stop to cross swords with anyone; that’s a good way to lose both of your optional goals. While you’re running, switch from your blades to an unarmed stance. If you have to fight at any time, at least you can knock people out instead of killing them. It’s better to stay out of combat, but it’s also good to have options.
Stay quick, and run along the cliff until you find the small road that leads into the valley. Go there now.
The good news is there’s a checkpoint here. If you’ve kept both of the optional goals so far, they’ll stay in perfect condition while you work on the next step. It’s tougher than the first one, but you’re able to reload at will to make sure that you get everything right.
The way back to the water isn’t far, but there are even more guards here. While the men on the ground harry you, a gunner in a blind above takes aim. He’ll ruin your day if you don’t stop him.
Before you break cover, prepare your Smoke Bombs. They’re the best tool for the job when you want to get away from foes without harming them. Stay in the brush while advancing and avoid being detected for as long as you can. The farther you get, the easier it is to avoid the couple of ranged attackers that are watching.
If and when you are seen, abandon silence and shift into maximum speed. Hit the Smoke Bombs whenever a ranged attacker prepares to fire or when melee attackers start to close around you (though that’s often easy to avoid if you’re running quickly and don’t stop).
Hurry toward the waypoint and finish the memory. You get full credit for avoiding damage or kills, so give yourself a pat on the back!
