You head off to Lisbon to search for a temple that has been concealed for a very long time. A Piece of Eden is hidden inside, and that is what you need to acquire before returning home.

Unlock the Precursor Temple

The cutscene shows you the events that occur while you travel to Lisbon, and you arrive there without mishap. There is a beautiful church (the temple is hidden within) that has been erected above the site of the older and better-concealed shrine that you’re seeking. The way into the hidden temple isn’t immediately clear, so you have to explore for a moment.

Go up to the large wooden door at the front of the building and use Eagle Vision. Look up. Do you see the symbol above the door? That likely means something. Climb up to that ledge to see if anything is there. Interact with a button that’s built into the wall to unlock the first of several elemental symbols. You need to trigger three more of them to reveal the hidden entrance.

There are similar symbols along the cardinal points in the room (and all are up high, of course). Free Run over the chandeliers and small ledges to reach all four of the buttons. Don’t jump on your own; trust the Free Run system and direct Shay toward the safest gaps you see. The next two that you get are on each side of the chamber. There aren’t any guards up here, so motion and sound aren’t a big deal as long as you don’t fall.

The fourth point (the one across from where you begin) is the hardest to find. It’s even higher up than the others. Jump onto the golden rails that surround that portion of the room and climb to the top. Use the button that’s hidden there, and then return to the floor. Slowly and safely would be preferable to leaping right down. If you grab the pillars that dominate the room, it’s easy to cling, drop, and catch yourself to avoid taking any damage.

Go to the center of the room and look for the new entrance that has been revealed. Use the marked spot to descend into a secret area.

Retrieve the Artifact

The path is now clear. Follow it forward and cross the mysterious bridge that rises in front of you. Take the artifact from its receptacle and watch the next scene.

Ending the Memory

The scene that plays after you take the artifact is extremely dramatic. It isn’t a section that you can prepare for, and you won’t need specific equipment or strategies to defeat it. Shay might need some new pants afterward, but that’s beside the point. No spoilers.

Here are a few general tips to help out, but everything else is straightforward:

1. Hold down the Free Run button for the next few minutes. You won’t need any stealth here, and speed is your savior.

2. Don’t jump anywhere until you’re certain what’s going on. There are a few subtle changes of perspective, and Shay has to go between different elevations. A casual jump can easily desynch you.

3. Follow the waypoints. When in doubt, simply go straight forward even when it looks like there isn’t a way out. The fates provide.

History of the Event
