The three varieties of side quest in the Citizen Missions category are among the most simple challenges that you face en route to 100% Synchronization. Many of them can be completed before the conclusion of Sequence 06, and the fact that they offer cash rewards on completion can provide capital for a burgeoning Homestead trade empire. Citizen Missions are not “exclusive” quests – that is, Connor can complete their objectives at any time, even during many main story Memories – so we strongly suggest that you accept them as soon as they become available. You can then complete them gradually as you attend to other business. For maximum time efficiency, you can complete Courier Missions and Assassination Contracts while undertaking Liberation Missions.
Though all objectives are clearly marked on the main map once you have accepted a Citizen Mission, irrespective of fog, the actual quest vendors are not visible until Connor has uncovered their position. Refer to the maps in the Collectibles section to find their specific locations.
Courier Missions
On accepting a Courier Mission, four letter icons will appear on the local map. To deliver a letter to a marked individual, simply approach them and press
/
. After the final delivery, you will receive a fixed cash payment of £500, and the mission is complete.

Notes:
- All recipients are marked by the
icon, and appear on the map shortly after the mission is accepted. - Central Boston Letters is the only conventional side quest available as Haytham, and features recipients very close to the start position. North Boston Letters has deliveries throughout the city, but there are no complications to speak of. The same can be said of East New York Letters.
- The letter delivered on the west side of Concord in Frontier Letters is close to potential hostiles who will regard Connor with suspicion once they see him. Fast Walk to make the delivery and then depart without pause unless you don’t mind getting into conflict.
Delivery Requests
Accepting a Delivery Request provides Connor with a list of items that must be supplied to the civilian that gives the mission. These always consist of five specific types of resources or crafted items in varying quantities. Once Connor has all of the requested stock in his inventory, a specific Delivery Request return icon (
) will appear in the position of the original request, and you can interact with the civilian to make the delivery and obtain a fixed £1,000 payment. Some of the later Delivery Requests require items that can only be obtained via crafting (see page 244) after making sufficient progress with the Homestead-related side quests. Though you can technically obtain specified trade items and resources by pickpocketing wealthy citizens, this isn’t practical: it would take a veritable eternity.
The cash reward for completing Delivery Requests may seem attractive in early Sequences, but we would suggest that you simply accept these quests when you find them, then leave the actual completion of each delivery until much later in the story – or even when you are making the final steps towards 100% Synchronization. With many deliveries, the payment of £1,000 doesn’t even cover the base value of the items when sold to a merchant, let alone the ample profits on offer if traded via a convoy.
Lexington Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: Sequence 05 |
|
Notes: If you intend to complete this side quest at an early stage, note that you can obtain most of these items while completing the Hunting Society missions. |
Troy’s Wood Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: Sequence 05 |
|
Notes: As with the Lexington delivery, completing Hunting Society missions (or general hunting ) will provide you with the necessary inventory stock. |
Central Boston Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: After “Boston’s Most Wanted” in Sequence 05 |
|
Notes: Though you can accept this quest at an early stage in the story, three of its items cannot be crafted until Sequence 09. It can be completed once Golden Rings become available during Sequence 10. |
South Boston Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: After “The Angry Chef” in Sequence 06 |
|
Notes: Buttons cannot be crafted until Sequence 07. As with the Lexington deliveries, it does not make financial sense to complete this at an early stage: the pelts are worth many thousands of pounds if sold via a convoy. |
Valley Forge Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: Sequence 09 |
|
Notes: This Delivery Request can be accepted once the Valley Forge military camp appears at the start of Sequence 09. Ardent hunters will probably have sufficient stock of these items to complete the request immediately – and for a small profit, too. |
West New York Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: Sequence 09 |
|
Notes: Only Salt and Bread must be crafted; the three animal products are available through hunting. This contract also leads to a minor profit. |
East New York Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: Sequence 09 |
|
Notes: These items must all be crafted, but the required artisan is actually available from Sequence 07 onwards. If you are up to date with all Homestead Missions, you should be able to source them straight away. |
North New York Items
|
Items Required |
Unlocked: Sequence 09 |
|
Notes: Cough Syrup and Eye Drops cannot be crafted before Sequences 10 and 11 respectively. |
Assassination Contracts
To all intents and purposes, Assassination Contracts are just a macabre permutation of Courier Missions: it’s just that the deadly delivery is performed with
/
instead, and plunging a Hidden Blade into the back of a recipient is somewhat less socially acceptable. Each Assassination Contract features five Templars to kill within the area where the mission is accepted, and awards £2,000 once the last one has been dispatched.

Notes:
- Targets are marked by the
icon, and appear on the map shortly after the mission is accepted. A red hexagon (
) appears above the head of the Templar when you move within visual range. - Each Templar target yields a small sum of money and – unlike other potential combatants – a resource or trade item when looted.
- The Templars in Boston are situated in deserted alleyways and on roads that do not feature patrols.
- Watch out for patrols when you start the mission in the Frontier. The quest giver is standing just inside the Restricted Area that surrounds Fort Monmouth, so speaking to him won’t endear Connor to the nearby patrol. Though the Templars in the Frontier are more suspicious than their peers in Boston, most of them are situated far from patrols. The target south of Concord in Troy’s Wood is close to mercenaries guarding a chest, who may kill him on your behalf.
- Most of the Templars in New York are found in alleyways that feature small numbers of guards, with patrols on the surrounding streets. This can lead to large battles (and Notoriety penalties) unless you take the time to be discrete. Try to identify positions where you can lure the Templar to a secluded spot to perform the kill: the whistle ability and corner assassinations work well here. One Templar in the East District, at the approximate center of the city, is located on a rooftop with two Snipers for company.
