Shotguns are close-quarters weapons that sport high damage and major stopping power. They throw people around, making it easier to stop their attacks as you work to defeat them. Shotguns excel against small groups and individuals, but lose their viability when you’re surrounded, have too many targets, or are attacked at long range.

This Shotgun is always useful. It is a balanced weapon for any arsenal.

All of the Shotguns sport high damage potential. This one trades some of that damage so that it has a decent amount of ammo and can stand up in a longer engagement. Use the pump action shotgun against groups with multiple, light opponents.

When stopping power is key, this is the Shotgun of choice.

The Break-Action Shotgun gives you maximal force. You have to reload often, and it doesn’t fire quickly. You won’t stand up well to a push from many opponents. However, it’s perfect when there is a single melee attacker that needs to die right freaking now. The Break-Action Shotgun pairs wonderfully with long-range Rifles and a player who uses cover well. When a target charges to try and flank you, switch to this Shotgun, eliminate that opponent almost instantly, and get back to business with your Bow/Rifle.

This Shotgun is a powerhouse that deals damage at high speed.

Though this Shotgun has lower damage per shot, it spits shells at blinding speed. It’s also surprisingly accurate. Use this gun when you’re trying to eliminate small groups or individual targets at short- or medium-range. This weapon almost entirely replaces the Pump-Action Shotgun. Though you don’t have the ammo capacity of the earlier Shotgun, this one reloads quickly, hits targets at a superior range, and bursts well enough to stop heavier opponents.

The Tactical Shotgun is purchased from the Supply Shack. It’s a potent Shotgun that doesn’t have any weaknesses. Once upgraded, it becomes your core weapon for any short-range battle.

This extremely deadly weapon is awarded to Lara after she reaches 100% completion on the game (find all collectible items, complete the story, and beat all Challenges, Tombs, Crypts, and Missions). The damage output, per second of firing, is higher than anything else in the game. Melt everything that gets close to you.
