Communications Breakdown
This is likely to be the first Mission you come across in the game. Missions are optional goals that you accept if you want extra experience, danger, and fun in your life. They also provide more tangible rewards like equipment, outfits, and weapon upgrades!
This Mission is to destroy the communications towers around the area. They’ll be marked on your map if you accept. Go to all five of them and do some righteous smashing to complete the Mission.
Two of the targets are fairly close to the Logging Camp, and they’re easy to access.
All the way to the east is a tower next to a new Base Camp (Sheltered Ridge). That one is simple once you get the Base Camp. Approach from the south and stick to the path.
The southeastern tower is on top of a ledge. Climb up when you’re in the area and you’re good to go.
The last tower is the hardest to reach, by far. That one is on top of a large hill. There are ropes leading over to the hill, but you should ignore them. The way up is easier than going hand-over-hand up a rope, but it’s much harder to spot. Approach the hill from the west. Use Survival Instincts to spot a climbable section of rock. Climb it, and shimmy right along handholds to get to a ledge. Squeeze through a narrow crack in the hill. Climb again, move around the outer edge of the hill, and then go up one more area of rock. Destroy the tower up top, and then you’re done. Whew.
Use the zipline there to get down, and then return to the Logging Camp to speak with the man who gave you the mission. You earn a Lock Pick as your final reward. This opens a Strongbox at the nearby cabin.
Dangerous Territory
One of Jacob’s men is wounded by the lumber mill. Meet him and agree to clear out a cave of wolves. In exchange for this good deed, he gives you a Pistol Sight!
Run north and look for the wolf cave that the man mentioned. It’s not far away, but don’t go inside until you have your weapons ready. There are multiple wolves inside, and you have to fight them in relative darkness.
Fast weapons, like the Submachine Gun, are perfect for this battle. If you don’t have that gun yet, a Pistol does the trick too. You can also sneak in, use your Bow to secure a couple of kills, and then retreat. The wolves lose interest after a short chase, and then you can return and go after them again.
Your Survival Instincts really help for spotting the wolves in this dark cave. Use them as you’re approaching to ensure that you don’t stumble into the middle of the pack.
Clear the cave of all five wolves, skin them for a great supply of Hides, and then return to Jacob’s guy.
Gulag Recon
Earlier, you cleared a Cave of several wolves so that one of Jacob’s men could hide there. He’s survived his injuries, and now he’s trying to get back to work. Meet him in that Cave (north of the lumber mill), and agree to help him again. This time you get a Rifle Suppressor as a reward.
To complete this recon, you have to discover enemy troop movement plans, find a guard schedule, and reclaim archeological discovery evidence.
All three of these items are north, inside the Gulag. Get to any Base Camps in the area and then Fast Travel to the Gulag camp to save time.
From the Gulag Base Camp you can go in either direction. Going south takes you through the snow, along a channel of water, and then up into a damaged building. The yard nearby has one of your recon items, but there are a few Trinity Soldiers out there. Stay inside the building, for cover, and snipe them. Once the coast is clear, head out and use your Survival Instincts to locate the intel without spending much time.
Return to the Base Camp and go to the northern end of the Gulag now. The next piece of intelligence is very close by. Use your map to get close and to find the building where the intel is hidden. Once you get there, scan for it with your Survival Instincts and pick it up off the floor.
The final piece of information is in a computer room farther into the base. Close in, get your intel, and then retreat to the Base Camp. Get the items back to the cave, turn them in, and collect your reward.
The Unlucky Ones
Your duty, as accepted, is to rescue the Remnant prisoners in the region. They’re to the west, so it looks like you should Fast Travel to the Train Yard camp. Don’t do that! Instead, start at the Logging Camp and travel southeast along the cliffs.
Get to the water, jump in, and swim to a pillar of stone that is in the middle of the river. Climb onto that, get to the top, and jump from there onto the climbable rocks across the river. In the next picture, we’ll show you the pillar from the perspective of where you’re trying to reach!
Use your Axes to climb to the top of the cliff, and then climb a tree and leap onto the highest ledge you see. There are two patrolling Trinity Soldiers close by, so you must be getting close!
Kill the patrollers and climb through a window into the rear of the prison. Break open a door ahead; this connects you to the areas of the building that you’ve explored earlier.
Then, go down some steps and assassinate the lone Soldier who is watching the prisoners. Break into the cell at the end of the room, and then release both Remnant captives to complete this stage of the Mission.
Return to the man who gave you this task so that you get your reward. You receive the Infiltrator outfit!
Misguided Intelligence
A short time after you complete The Unlucky Ones, the Remnant fighter who gave you the last Mission asks you to take on a final task for him in this area. He offers a Shotgun Spreader Choke as a reward.
Return to his cabin and accept the Mission. You have to find a carrier bird to the east. It flies around the lumber mill. Use Survival Instincts to spot it (the bird turns green so that you know which one to shoot). Track it, use your most accurate ranged weapon to kill the bird, and then return to the cabin for your reward when it’s all over.
